Perspective is everything ...

From the start, I have said this is a 'Greg Williams' issue more then anything, he went 'over the top' in what is a common, NFL motivation procedure ... the pep talk.

I have not heard or read of a single Saints fan (or football fan for that matter) supporting Greg Williams or condoning what he did ... as a matter of fact, most of the 'loopy' opinions concerning 'bountygate' can be found outside of Black&Gold and WhoDat Nation. The continued demonization of New Orleans is just wrong and inflammatory.

The perpatrators have been identified, they will be punished, let's move on. I would think NFL fans league wide would be mature enough & intelligent enough to realize 'bountygate' is not a vilification of the entire Saints organization and it's fans, but is instead the actions of an overzealous defensive coordinator and maybe a few players.

I would go on to think that NFL fans league wide would sympathize with their fellow fans in New Orleans ... every team in the NFL has had it's shares of trouble ... New England had 'Spygate', 3 of Detroit's five draft picks from 2011 have been arrested on marijuana charges and Cincinnati's cheerleading squad has a propensity for sleeping around with players and minors ... and those are just the incidents I can recall off the top of my head. It is what it is, nothing less, nothing more.

Former Detroit Lions cornerback Lamar Campbell's comments in this article on the William's audio validate what many players/coaches and B&G members have already stated ... payments for injuries is wrong, lying about it is wrong, but it should be kept in the perspective that such motivation is league wide and not something unique to the New Orleans Saints ...

... my point being, it's out there, people ... the proper perspective ... but you have to go out and look for it, it's not something you're born with.

Quote:
When Lamar Campbell read the speech ex-New Orleans Saints assistant Gregg Williams gave to his defense the night before their January playoff loss to the San Francisco 49ers, it seemed an awful lot like pregame talks he heard during his five seasons as a Lion — with one big exception.

“You hear, ‘Knock the (expletive) out of him,’ and, ‘Kick his ass,’ and I love, ‘They’re going to be shocked with our contact, they’re going to be shocked with our speed, they’re going to be shocked with the way we strip,’” Campbell said Thursday. “I felt nostalgic reading it and then I get to a line that says, ‘Let’s see how many times we can bull rush and get that outside ACL,’ and it’s like, ‘Hold up.’ You had me and then, ‘Go get this guy’s ACL?’ Are you serious?”

“You cut out a couple sentences and it’s a normal pregame speech, but I’ve never heard go for the ACL or a concussion,” Campbell said.

Yeah, when all is said and done and it's all not the crimes of the century it's been made out to be, I hope as much effort by fans & the media that was put into villifying the Saints in the courts of public opinion will be spent vindicating New Orleans as well ... but that'll never happen.
