2009 Mock draft I Pre combine

    21. Philadelphia Eagles - Eben Britton, OT, Arizona

Andy Read loves big line men. He also needs a infussion of youth at OT big time. He gets both with Britton.

    Team Needs:

he franchise left offensive tackle to takeover for Tra Thomas, who will probably leave via free agency, must be drafted assuming Todd Herremans stays at left offensive guard. A franchise do-it-all running back to backup and in a few years takeover for Brian Westbrook is needed. free safety to eventually take over for the great but venerable Brian Dawkins must be drafted. A powerful wide receiver to play opposite DeSean Jackson must be drafted. A franchise tight end to bring the offense to the next level and to supplant L.J. Smith must also be drafted

Round 2: Brian Robiskie, WR, Ohio State

    Eagles Draft Picks By Round: 1st, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 5th, 6th, 7th

    22. Minnesota Vikings - Alex Mack, C/G, California

Birk is 33 and need I say more?

    Team Needs:

The Vikings desperately need a dominating right offensive tackle to complete their offense. If they decide not to go with Tavaris Jackson as their quarterback, then a QB is also desperately needed. The Vikings strongly need two young defensive tackles to be groomed as future starters. The Vikings strongly need a stud left defensive end to start opposite of Jared Allen on the right side

Round 2: Robert Ayers, DE, Tennessee

    Picks by Round: 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 7th

    23. New England Patriots - D.J. Moore, CB, Vanderbilt

BPA on the board fills a large area of need.

    Team Needs:

Send out an S.O.S., the Patriots must draft an inside linebacker to pair next to Jerod Mayo. The Patriots have a strong need for a starting corner next to Ellis Hobbs and a safety to pair opposite Brandon Meriweather.

Round 2: Patrick Chung, SS, Oregon, Andy Levitre, G, Oregon State

    1st, 2nd, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th

    24. Atlanta Falcons - Brandon Pettigrew,TE, Oklahoma State

Time to improve the TE position big time.

    Team Needs:

Despite having a great comeback in 2008, the Atlanta Falcons have three very important defensive starters -- DT Grady Jackson (35), SS Lawyer Milloy (35), and OLB Keith Brooking (33) -- who will soon need to be replaced. Ideally the Falcons first day draft choices will be defensive tackle/nose tackle, strong safety, and weak-side linebacker in any order to make their defense younger and more talented. The Falcons need a talent upgrade at tight end, a starting left offensive tackle to eventually replace Todd Weiner, who is 33 years old, and they have a potential free agent at starting right offensive guard. These are needs that should be addressed in the 2009 draft.

Round 2: Evander Hood, DT, Missouri

    Falcons Picks by Round: 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 5th, 6th

    25. Miami Dolphins - Clint Sintim, OLB, Virginia

Best pass rushing 34 OLB in the draft?

    Team Needs:

A franchise outside linebacker is the Miami Dolphins most urgent need as Joey Porter is great but getting old, Matt Roth is mediocre, and Erik Walden is promising but raw. Strong needs are an upgrade at both starting safeties and another good cornerback to improve the secondary. A wide receiver to play opposite Ted Ginn Jr. and a third offensive tackle are needed

Round 2: Phil Loadholt, OT, Oklahoma

    Dolphins Picks by Round: 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 7th, 7th, 7th

    26. Baltimore Ravens - Percy Harvin, WR, Florida

This is a hard pick to make because of so many UFA the Ravens have on defense but Harvey is a safe pick in the area of need and BPA.

    Team Needs:

The great Baltimore Ravens defense, the team's bread and butter, although still great, is showing signs of age. Three of their top four corners and top inside linebacker are all over 30. And both their starting inside linebackers are potential free agents. The Ravens first three draft choices in any order should be a franchise cornerback and two inside linebackers. The second-day draft choices for the Ravens should be a wide receiver to eventually replace Derrick Mason, two 3-4 defensive ends to be groomed, and a nose tackle to be groomed.

    Round 2:Connor Barwin, DE/OLB, Cincinnati

    Ravens' Picks by Round: 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th

    27. Indianapolis Colts - Darrius Heyward-Bey, WR, Maryland

Colts just keep reloading at WR. Harrison looks to be ready to retire in a year or two if he does not get jail time as it is.

    Team Needs:

The Colts urgently need two quick run-stuffing starting defensive tackles, an offensive guard so Mike Pollack can slide over to be the future at center. They also need a right offensive tackle of the future. A wide receiver to replace Marvin Harrison to go with Reggie Wayne and Anthony Gonzalez, and a new run-stuffing middle linebacker are strongly needed.

Round 2: Fili Moala, DT, USC

    Colts Picks by Round: 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th,

    28. Philadelphia Eagles (from Carolina) - Larry English, DE, Northern Illinois

Larry English is made for the 3-4, but I think he could definitely work well in a Tampa-2 4-3 scheme. English's stock is on fire after an impressive showing at the Senior Bowl.

    Team Needs:

    see #21

    29. New York Giants - Hakeem Nicks, WR, North Carolina

Kinda of another no brainer when your best WR is your TE. They need to open things up with some kind of passing attack.

    Team Needs:

The Giants urgently need a franchise left offensive tackle so they can move David Diehl to the right side where he would dominate and move Kareem McKenzie to a reserve swing offensive tackle role. A strong need for a an upgrade at strong side outside linebacker -- a player who can rush, cover, and stuff the run -- to give the team even more versatility and ingenuity when calling defensive schemes. Anthony Pierce is thirty, and his play declined last season. The Giants have a strong need for an upgrade at middle linebacker.

Round 2: Tyrone McKenzie, OLB, South Florida, Donald Brown, RB, Connecticut

    Giants Picks by Round: 1st, 2nd, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 5th, 6th, 7th

    30. Tennessee Titans - .Alphonso Smith, CB, Wake Forest

Most of the Titans needs are in the passing game but a play making CB like Smith is a welcomed adition.

    Team Needs:

The Titans urgently need to draft the franchise center of the future to takeover for the aging Kevin Mawae once he decides to end his solid career. The Titans also must draft a franchise corner to pair with Cortland Finnegan once Nick Harper decides to watch football instead of playing it. When superstar defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth is not in the game, the Titans defense is much weaker. Tennessee should draft another great defensive tackle to pair with Haynesworth.

Round 2: Dallas Juaquin Iglesias, WR, Oklahoma

    Titans Picks by Round: 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 6th, 7th

    31. Arizona Cardinals - .LeSean McCoy, RB, Pittsburgh

    Team Needs:

Of the top four Cardinals outside linebackers, three are over 30 years old. Ideally, the Cardinals first-round draft choice would be a dominant 3-4 rush outside linebacker to pair opposite Travis LaBoy. The Cardinals starting nose tackle, Bryan Robinson, is 34. The Cardinals should spend a first day draft choice on a versatile 3-4 defensive lineman who can play both nose tackle and defensive end to strengthen the defensive line rotation. A talent upgrade at right offensive guard to replace Taitusi Lutui, a future left offensive tackle to be groomed behind 29 year-old Mike Gandy and a tight end -- three Cardinal tight ends are potential free agents -- should be drafted or otherwise acquired.

Round 2: Carolina: Jamon Meredith, OT, South Carolina

    1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th

    32. Pittsburgh Steelers - Duke Robinson, OG, Oklahoma

No brainer here picking the best road grader in the draft.

Team Needs: The offensive line must be rebuilt in order to provide the push in short-yardage situations and keep the pocket in tact in passing situations. New starters are needed immediately at center and both guard positions. A healthy young franchise left offensive tackle is needed to supplant the often injured Marvel Smith.

Round 2: Domonique Johnson, CB/FS, Jackson State

    1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 7th

Teams without a first round pick

    Dallas: Fenuki Tupou, OT, Oregon

    Team needs:

A hard-hitting strong safety who can cover receivers and make plays is desperately needed. A franchise young receiver with game-breaking speed to complement Terrell Owens and Roy Williams but eventually takeover as the number one is needed. A young project left offensive tackle with a huge upside to groom behind Flozell Adams is a must. A good backup quarterback, a good backup nose tackle, and a corner for depth are needed.

    Cowboys Picks by Round: 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 4th, 5th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 7th

Carolina: Josh Freeman, QB, Kansas St

    Team needs:

A wide receiver to start opposite Steve Smith and to also be groomed as his eventual successor. Another pass rushing terror to replace Julius Peppers who is looking to play elsewhere in 2009. A quarterback to back up Jake Delhomme and to also be groomed as his eventual successor. A strong side linebacker to be groomed behind Na'il Diggs and a defensive tackle of the future need to be drafted.

    Panthers Picks by Round: 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th

2009 Mock draft I Pre combine

    11. Buffalo Bills - Andre Smith, OT, Alabama

BPA wins out and fills a need. plugs a huge hole at RT. Smith dispite all the hype does have to work on his pass blocking skills. and where else better to that than at run happy Buffalo.

    Team Needs:

The Buffalo Bills starting right offensive guard Jason Whittle is 33-years old and not that great to begin with. The Bills should draft a new starting right offensive guard on day one. Two of the three Bills outside linebackers are potential free agents. At least one replacement should be drafted day one. The Bills tight ends are a collection of capable backups, not inspiring starters. A tight end to take over as a starter to help quarterback Trent Edwards grow should be drafted. A pass rushing defensive end needs to be drafted to improve the pass rush, push the starters at defensive end, and take one of their spots should they either not heal or otherwise not be effective.

Round 2: Paul Kruger, DE, Utah

    Bills' Picks by Round: 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th,

    12. Denver Broncos - Brian Cushing, OLB/ILB USC

Shannies crazy defensive scheme start to come to an end. The most versatile linebacker out of USC, Cushing could probably play any of the 3 spots. The only bad thing for Mike Nolan is that he can't play all 3 of them at the same time. Nate Webste is not going to be around much longer at 31.

    Team Needs:

Denver must strengthen its run defense. A run-stuffing defensive tackle, and old school middle linebacker (allowing Wilson to move back to outside linebacker), a run-stuffing defensive end, and a run-stuffing strong safety are all urgently needed. A young playmaking free safety, pancake block-delivering right offensive tackle, young center, and young offensive guard are also strong needs.

Round 2: Jonathan Luigs, OC, Arkansas

    Broncos Picks by Round: 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 7th

    13. Washington Redskins - Vontae Davis, CB, Illinois

They have been looking for a CB and now take the best all around CB in the draft. He lites up the combine. Spelling an end to Shawn Springs 33 and the circus that is DeAngelo Hall needs a serious side kick. Carlos Rogers now is trade bait?

    Team Needs:

The Redskins urgently need to draft their left offensive tackle for the future to eventually pair with Stephon Heyer once Chris Samuels and Jon Jansen retire. Washington also needs to draft a huge run-stuffing old-school left defensive end. A pass rusher is needed as Jason Taylor is overpriced and Andre Carter is mediocre. Washington needs to draft a strong, young, versatile linebacker who can play both in the middle and the strong side to eventually play alongside Rocky McIntosh and H.B. Blades. The Redskins also need to draft a franchise offensive guard as both Randy Thomas and Pete Kendall are getting up there in years. Drafting a new place kicker and punter could be a nice boost for the special teams.

    Round 2: Miami

    Redskins Picks by Round: 1st, 3rd, 5th, 6th

    14. New Orleans Saints - Jason Smith, OT, Baylor

BPA! Still a bit of a project at LT he is with out a doubt one of the most athletic OT in the draft. RT is not an issue anymore. But after another year he should be able to take over the LT position and Brown goes back to RT. Stinch is trade bait now. Could a pick like this put Brown on the trading block? I say no but you never know.

I would be screaming "TRADE DOWN" if it unfolds this way. Everyone knows I want a LT too but not here.

    Possible movers for?

Jason Smith - Chargers, Bears, Eagles, Dolphins, Detroit (if they trade out of 1)

Pick of RB because of Houston? - Yep I have the Texans looking at RB because they know Stanton needs help and the do not have any help right now to give him,

    Team Needs:

Two dominant outside linebackers to flank middle linebacker Jonathan Vilma, along with healthy returning defenders could make the Saints a super team next year. A center who could clear the way for runners could bring the offense to the next level.

    Round 2: NYG

    1st, 4th, 4th, 7th

    15. Houston Texans - James Laurinaitis, OLB/ILB, Ohio State

Killing two birds with one stone? He may not be the fastest guy in the draft but he is probably the most football smart guy in the group. I will be surprised that after the combine he does not work his way back into the top 15.

    Team Needs:

A bone-crushing play-making strong safety is urgently needed. A dominant strong side outside linebacker to go with middle linebacker DeMeco Ryans would help make the Texan defense dominant. An upgrade at free safety, a left defensive end to pair opposite Mario Williams at right defensive end, and a corner to pair opposite Dunta Robinson are needed.

Round 2: Louis Delmas, FS, Western Michigan

    Texans Picks by Round: 1st(15), 2nd(47), 3rd(79), 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th,

    16. San Diego Chargers - Knowshon Moreno, RB, Georgia

LT is getting up there and Sprols maybe lost through FA so their hand is forced here and they gladly get what might be the best skilled RB in the draft.

    Team Needs:

Drafting the understudy at nose tackle for Jamal Williams and a bookend offensive tackle for Marcus McNeil are urgent needs. Drafting an offensive tackle who can excel at both pass and run blocking would be a great boost to the Chargers' offensive line. Drafting an outside linebacker in case Shawne Merriman signs elsewhere or does not heal properly is a strong need--especially since Jyles Tucker got injured leaving only Shaun Phillips and backups manning the two outside spots.

    Round 2: NE

    Picks by Round: 1st, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th

    17. New York Jets - Chris Wells, RB, Ohio State

The jets have to look at the RB here. Jones is 30 and Leon is a scat back. To get a back like Wells, 6-1and 237 at 17 is amazing. I still think this is a bit low for him. He needs a good combine.

    Team Needs:

Another dominating inside linebacker to pair with David Harris is urgently needed to solidify this 3-4 defense. Strong needs are an offensive guard to groom behind Alan Faneca OG who is great but older and an offensive tackle to groom behind the venerable Damien Woody on the right side. To improve the pass defense a talented cornerback must be drafted to play opposite Darrelle Revis; Dwight Lowery can be moved to the nickel position.

Round 2: Victor Harris, CB, Virginia Tech

    Jets Picks by Round: 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th

    18. Chicago Bears - Mark Sanchez, QB, USC

The circus surrounding the QB position is now over. Bears have Sanchez fall into there laps.

    Team Needs:

Due to the disappointing play of Mark Anderson DE and the possible departure of Mike Brown DE, a right defensive end to rush the passer is an urgent need. As Daniel Manning FS appears not to have the savy to start at free safety and Mike Brown is often injured, a franchise intelligent play-making free safety is urgently needed. The Bears also need a fast, big, tall, talented wide receiver to play opposite of Devin Hester.

Round 2: Sen'Derrick Marks, DT, Auburn

    Bears Picks by Round: 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th

    19. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - .Jeremy Maclin, WR, Missouri

Jeremy lights up the combine. At 6-1 and 200 pounds, Maclin has a rare blend of size and speed (sub 4.4). The knock here is FUMBLING.

    Team Needs:

The Buccaneers urgently need to draft a quick, large, fast do it all defensive tackle who can fit into any defensive scheme to make their defense dominant. Unless Josh Johnson is the answer, Tampa Bay urgently needs to draft their future franchise quarterback. Another starting wide receiver to pair opposite Bryant strongly needs to be drafted. A cornerback to play nickel back and to back up Phillip Buchannan and Aquib Talib and replace Rhonde Barber, now a defensive liability, is needed.

Round 2: Ron Brace, NT, Boston College

    20. Detroit Lions (from Dallas) - Peria Jerry, DT, Mississippi

Detroit now goes defense. They need to improve their pass rush because they had none in 2008. Lions get the second best DT in the draft and fill an area of need with the BPA also

    Team Needs:

you are right-Obama didn't cause this recession--this has been building for many years--it started with the Federal Reserve Act in 1913--check it out and see who the real owners are--politicians now are put in place to make us think we have freedom of choice--you don't--we have owners and they own you and me-they own and control corporations-have paid for the Senate, Congress, the State Houses, City Hall and have the Judges in their back pocket and then the most important--the Media--they control all the news and information you get to hear----------they spend Billions lobbying to get what they want!!!!!!! WE KNOW WHAT THEY WANT-MORE FOR THEMSELVES AND LESS FOR US-----they don't want a population capable of critical thinking----so jump up and down believing in Obama if you want--------the table is tilted--the game is rigged--nobody seems to notice--nobody seems to care!!! not when you have a cell phone that makes pancakes and scratches your ba**s

Let me say this, the PEOPLE voted. Crying over spilt milk isn't going to change anything. The fact that Obama won in a convincing manner AND him being the first African American president tells me something. Obama didn't create this recession we are in. You can thank the Repub's for that. 10 million in Iraq for a country who A) doesn't want us there and B) is ruining a generation in our own country speaks volumes about the prior regime.
The country has spoken. Unfortunately, you didn't get you wish, but that's how it goes. It's democracy. You can't just be a supporter of it when "your guy or party" wins. Again, the people have spoken and it is what it is. I was TOTALLY against Clinton being elected, but he did win and I had to move on. He was the President whether I liked it or not. I think you need to get over the "sour grapes" and try doing the best YOU can to get this country back on it's feet.

This read is a bunch of bull crap. 1st of all to this comment:

"The fact he is also very knowledgeable about the Moslium faith, Being raised with a Moslium parent maybe good for this country and our foreign affairs as long as the country comes first and religion remains second. We all end up praying to the same God in the end".

He was raised by his grandparents with no interactions with his father and furthermore just cuz his father is a native from Africa that don't necessarily mean he is a muslim. Most of the rhetoric you leading people to believe hilarious, I mean where did you get your research from or is this all stuff you assume to be true.

All of his speeches were beautiful. It's a shame for you to nick pick on his speech and didn't receive the message he was trying to share. I have one question for you. Why you didn't nick pick when Bush was on vacation while the people of New Orleans was begging for help?

Snook Assisan is on the right track here. Looking at the big picture may suck but the series of events that has led us down this path is revelant. I for one believe Barrack will do very little to to improve anyone's quality of life here in America but at least he is trying. In order to do so we will have to make demands on all our elected goverment officials to actually work for the majority and stop making deals at our sacrifice. As stated the plundering of the real estate and banking markets by Freddie and Fanny was initiated by the government that took the loans away from the local banks and investors and then turned a blind eye allowing the oligarchy to continue. The politicians are being controlled by the wealthy. Black or White is not an issue here as far as who we elect. If B.O. will put some teeth into government and work for us all the better but surely he cannot do it alone. Our government must regulate and jail those responsible. The Auto industry must stand by itself on its own merits. I can see the the effort it trying to save our major industries but again the government has been responsible in the first place by allowing the shift to low quality goods , removing tarrifs allowing cheaper products from China and Taiwan, and Thailand among others. This allows for higher profit margins to the few. What happens is before long their quality improves and we are left out. They have allowed our historic corporations to move shop from the U.S. penalty free. For example try to buy an Old Timer, or Buck knife made in the U.S.A. They have done the same to our steel industry which has slightly recovered by quality alone. The finicially elite are pushing in the direction they want ( A world order in which they can control )with the compliance of our wealthy government officials.
