LSU loses the National Championship Game. It will go down as one of the worst losses by a #1 team...

LSU loses the National Championship Game. It will go down as one of the worst losses by a #1 team in HISTORY. I still want to vomit.

The Saints lose to the 49ers in an ugly way. Just not as ugly as LSU v Bama.

To most it would seem like a terrible year to be a fan of Sports in the State of Louisiana. Right?

WRONG.

Let's look at the good.

1. Saints get Darren Sproles. Who has without a doubt the best free agent pick up of the year in the NFL. #2 FA pick up in Saints history.

2. Saint have a record setting year, and not in a bad way. Drew for Passing yards and Darren for total yards by a player.

3. LSU has an undefeated season. This is great, even though they couldn't finish the deal and win a NC.

4. LA Tech; with a freshman QB (17 years old at the start of the season) have a stellar year.

5. The Ragin Cajuns have a great year, and cap it off with a bowl win!

6. Jimmy Graham is AWESOME! Shockey who?

So see... there has been some good things that happened this year. I hope we can look back on the good things that happened, verses keeping the "blinders" on and seeing only the bad. Think about how great of a year we have had on this site. So I challenge each of you that read this; hold your head high. Don't let the "negative waves" (Kelly's Hero's; for you old timers, like me) beat you down. Take pride in knowing that a lot of good came out of this football season. We as fans tend to let the last game determine our moods for the rest of the year. Don't do it.

So as I end this blog. I really hope you stop and remember the great things we have been able to witness this year in a good way. Yes, losses are tough to swallow but over looking the good things that happen is almost a crime. Don't let a million "At-A-Boys" get ruined by one "O-Crap".

How to define Insanity

After all the hype. After all the agruements. After all the good times and the hangovers....

I...

After all the hype. After all the agruements. After all the good times and the hangovers....

I am at a loss, my friends.

The 2011 LSU Tigers Football season has come to a close. It has been full of just about every emotion a fan could experience. Anger, concern, fear, doubt, and let me not forget...PRIDE. I do have one other feeling left to mention. However, it's not an emotion at all. In fact it is a condition. A mental one at that.

The condition I am talking about is insanity. Insanity is defined as; doing the same exact thing over and over again. While expecting a different outcome.

On January 2nd 2012, insanity is just what the Tiger Nation, Bama Goon platoon and the rest of the college football loving folks witnessed during the 2011 BCS National Championship game. I know what you are thinking... Sapper is just mad because the Tigers lost. Well, part "Yes" and part "No". I'll explain.

The two best teams in NCAA D1 football are without a doubt LSU and Alabama. Maybe thats just my opinion but hey... it's my blog. Anyway. The issue I have with the loss is just pure mind boggling to me. Warning, this is going to take a little bit for me to explain, so bear with me. I will jump to the meat and potatoes of the BCS NC game just to shorten this up.

While I was watching the game I noticed the Tigers were running the same plays over and over and over and over and over (use the Pee Wee Herman voice when saying that part). Plays were as follows: Pass into the flat to the WR; Option pass to RB; QB draw; QB RB option; rare 5 yrd pass. This happened every offensive play of every quarter.

Can anyone explain this madness to me?

The Alabama Defense played their game plan to a "T". If you watch the replay of the game. You will notice that the Bama D Game plan was to contain Jordan Jefferson. PERIOD. Bama loaded the line with the front 7. No linebackers covered TE's, RB's in the slot WR position, nor did they cover WR's.Their job and only job was to stop the hijinks of Jordan Jefferson. For that they get an A++.

Now, if ole Sapper could see that.... WHY COULDN'T THE COACHES OF LSU SEE IT!!!! (Calm down Paul gotta get through this entry.)

The maddening part of all this is why Miles left Jefferson in and left Lee on the sideline. Coach Miles made the statement that he didn't feel like Lee was mobile enough. (Cough.horsecrap UH HUM. Excuse me, had to clear my throat). I'll tell you why he didn't let Lee get in the game. Coach Miles is hard headed. Les was going to live and die by Jordan Jefferson. I'll tell you who else knew that.....Nick Saban. If I was a betting man. I'd bet my retirement that Nick never game planned for Lee. He knew Miles wouldn't change his QB. Scary thought, isn't it. It's not that far off to think he would know that.... How many of you "Knew" Les was gonna put Lee in? Hell, when I saw him stretching; I wished I had the number to the "Red" phone on the sideline. My conversation would have been something like this....

Me: "Get Jarrett on the phone"
Some Guy: "Ok"
Jarrett: "Hello"
Me: "Jarrett, just pull your helmet off son. walk out of the Dome I have a car to take you back to BR. He's not putting you in."
Jarrett: "Yes sir. What Gate is the taxi at?"

That's about how it would have gone.

Well, I guess I'm done ranting. I do have one last thing to say to "Our" boys in Purple and Gold.

Tigers, I am very proud of each of you! To our Graduating Seniors; thank you for your years of serve to the Tiger Nation and wish you the best in your future. Do not forget this Loss. Let it fuel you for not only next year but for the rest of your life; both in and out of football.

Lastly to the rest of the Tiger Nation.... enjoy the season we just had. Think about how many times we were on the brink of doom and our Tigers finished the year with 1 loss. Be proud of that. Tigers Forever Forever Tigers! Geaux Tigers!

Please understand that I fully understand that what I am about to discuss is in no way related to...

Please understand that I fully understand that what I am about to discuss is in no way related to Saints football.

I the past few days scandal has rocked, shaken the pillars, or to be blunt... DESTROYED Penn State Football. While I am not a Penn State fan. I as a football fan do understand who Penn State is and who Joe Paterno is.

For those of you who many not know what I am talking about I will give you a quick run-down as to what is happening.

Gerry Sandusky was current/former/who the hell really know; coach for Penn State Football. He has been charged with sexually assault of 8 known minor boys. It is alleged that He, (Sandusky) was visually seen in the act, on campus in the Football Showering room. The person who witnessed the act was an intern that upon seeing this act; did not stop it. Rather, he called his father and the next day the intern and his father told Coach JoePa about what he had seen. JoePa the states he told the AD and the Vice President about the incident. (This all took place in 2002).

Fast forward to 10 November 2011.

The Penn State University announces that Coach Joe Paterno has been released as Head Coach of Penn State. Effective, immediately. With More firings to come.

Now the issue I have with this whole thing (Other than the obvious). Is the reaction of some of the Penn State fans. In reading some of their comments on ESPN; they feel he has done nothing wrong. "It wasn't Joe who raped the boys", "Joe has done nothing wrong", "Joe had no responsibility to act on this".

Are you kidding me?!?!?! To say that Joe had no responsibility, had done nothing wrong; is absolutely mind blowing. These fans; and I'm talking about more that one here and one there....It's a lot of them.... They really feel as if Joe has been done wrong in this.

I won't get into a religious debate over this, we all have different views. However, one thing make's us all equal. We are Human Beings!

Joe Paterno watched this guy, Sandusky, everyday walk the halls of the football building. Knowing what he had been accused of and never asking the question "Why is he still here?", "What is being done about this?", nothing. Joe Paterno did nothing. All of the firings that will be taking place for the next couple of weeks will all be "damage control".

Now don't get me wrong. I am not placing Joe as the sole blame for nothing being done. Because he is in no way the only other person to blame for this. I place that on the entire institution. But for the fan's to not only say it, but believe it whole heartedly; that Joe Paterno did nothing wrong is just, well wrong.

Joe ran what is being said to be one of the cleanest football programs in NCAA history. If that is so. Why didn't he do something about the rape of children? I don't know about you; but paying football players and giving them cars, houses and what-nots; pales in comparison to the rape of a child. Much less 8 children. More and more is coming out on this. I just heard that Sandusky was told by personnel at Penn State that he was told not to bring "Minors" on campus. Are you F'in kidding me!!!!! That is saying; "We don't care what you do...just don't do it here".

And the fans scream injustice.......... Justice is not blind. We the people, the fan's have become blind. Blinded by our love for our teams. Blinded to the point that makes me wonder are we losing our humanity? I sure hope I never reach that level of fanhood. Even with my love for LSU and the Saints. I hope if this type of thing happened at LSU I could step out of my Purple and Gold aura and see the truth.

From lossers to mentally insane

First of, let me start out by saying this is not intended to be a finger pointing blog. I hope it...

First of, let me start out by saying this is not intended to be a finger pointing blog. I hope it reopens your eyes to being a Saints fan.

I understand that many are worried about our team. Some expect or demand perfection from this team. Guys and Gals....it's just not going to happen. Some of the press calls the "whoas" the Saints are going through "The SuperBowl Hangover". I don't think it is the team going through it....I think we, the fans are still having the SuperBowl Hangover.

For 42 years we haved suffered unto other NFL teams and their fans. We sucked people. Point blank. Now that we have tasted, witnessed, and the dream has finally become reality...I don't think we as fans now how to look at our team anymore. It's as if the other 42 years never happened. We see this team as perfection and they should score 55+ points a game and our oppositions should have 0. Come on people. Every guy in the NFL is the best of the best at every aspect of the game.

The Saints have a target on their backs this year. Until someone wins the Superbowl this year, the Saints are the Champions of the NFL! That means teams will study game film hard. Practice harder. Be more determined to to show the rest of the NFL teams that "HEY, we beat the Champs!". To me I feel they are and have handled the pressure perfectly. I can't say the same for us as fans. I think it's almost like we have a little voice inside our heads that is telling us, "If the Saints lose a game, they are going to be the laughing stock of the NFL and you are going to be a dumbbutt to everyone because you just bought all that Saints gear."

My fellow B&G brothers and sisters. I ask you to try and do one thing....enjoy this time right now. Relax. Enjoy the close wins. I'm by no means not telling anyone to stop cussing at the TV or from the stands at bad plays. I think that has to be a staple in being a Saints fan. However, I don't expect 2009 to relive itself in 2010. This is a new year. A new team. All I ask is for all of us to sit down. Buckle up and enjoy the ride. Even if at the end of the road, TWO DAT becomes reality or not. Enjoy it!

One December 15th last year we lost a true friend to this website. JoeSam.

I remember that day very well, as do many of us here. I don't think back on that day as a total bad day. Because it reminds me just how important this site has been in my life for the past couple of years. It has gotten my through a war, and opened up countless new friendships.

Yes, I know, at times, I get too mushy for a football site, and I know Kevin will give me friendly grief for it....but hey, he knows that's the kinda guy I am.

HALO and the others that make this site as great as it can be, do a great job. However, it still all boils down to the members we have on this site. Sure we don't always see eye to eye, and how can you not love Euph when he is at his wits end and is ready to fire everyone on the Dline or Oline(don't mean to point you out Euph...got nuthin but love for ya Bro!); but that is what makes this site far beyond other Saints sites. The members, who are like a second family to most if not all.

I really just wanted this entry to be about Joe, and in my own way it kinda is. Because if not for him and others here on this site, I just don't think it would be the same. I am glad I got to know Joe...my friend.

We miss you Bro.

After reading the various threads dealing with the Presidential election, I have noticed one thing... Division among us on this site.

This is a New Orleans Football site. Yes, we do talk about other things here, but Religion and Politics should be two subjects that should be avoided. At all cost.

I know why JoeSam and many others love this site so much....it is because of the people that make up this site. Yes, we are different but the one common ground that we share that does make us one "Party" is the Saints and this site.

Many of you on here and that are reading this now, I consider my friends. The rest are my Saints family. I could care less what political party, church, color of your skin, or what peanut butter you prefer. I care about the fact that we love the Saints and have struggled through many years of turmoil...TOGETHER!

I have my own personal beliefs, and I do not expect any of you to agree with them. Don't expect anyone else to agree with yours. Hell, we don't agree on the Saints....but what you don't see is a potential wedge of hate for one another when we disagree about the Saints.

Please people, I beg you. Do not drive a wedge between us. I love this site! I am on this site almost everyday and have watched it changes so much (for the better). Please let's keep it the great site that made us join it in the first place.

Thanks for reading,

I have seen way too many "The season is over" post, and I just can't take it anymore.

Guys and...

I have seen way too many "The season is over" post, and I just can't take it anymore.

Guys and Gals we are Saints fans. Some of the other teams have claimed that they are the best and most loyal fans in the NFL, but I greatly disagree.

Our (The Fans) biggest problem is that we know, WE KNOW, this team is close to being the best team we have ever had. A few more players in some much needed holes and this dream of ours will come true. We always find something or someone to complain about. It all boils down to this....we as fans have relentlessly waited, prayed to every deity, even some here have been willing to sell thier souls to finally, FINALLY see and live in the time when our team is the best. When we no longer are considered jokes of the NFL for continusly cheer and support the Saints. To live the day when we can hold our heads high and say..."I TOLD YOU SO!".

Other people do not see the Saints the way we do. This team has a history, a very long history as lossers, jokes, bums, and my favorite to hear..."Same ole sorry a$$ Saints".

Here are some reason I can not give up on this team....

(1.) When I was born ('72) I was birthed into loving three things; 1. The Atlanta Braves 2. The LSU Tigers and 3. The New Orleans Saints.

As many of you should know that is a long list of lossing years. However, the Braves were the first to give me a glimpse as to what the feeling of victory tasted like. (Yes, I know I used two types of senses to discribe that.)

In 1990 they made it to the World Series, they lost to the twins. The next year they made it back....and lost to the Blue Jays. But then after waiting years 1995 brought me my first championship team. The Braves beat the Indians. Sid Breams slide at home will always be in my memory.

(2.) LSU, LSU, LS..WHO? I was not alive when the Tigers won in 1958 beating Clemson, I remember SEC Championships from 86,88, then the long wait til we won in 2001. But still no National Championship. Then 2003, The magical season when LSU would bring me my second championship by beating Oklahoma, then giving me a third last year by beating Ohio State.

I couldn't belive I could wear my LSU hat's, shirt's and jacket's, FINALLY with pride and National respect.

Then there is the Saints......

(3.) The New Orleans Saints. Archie, Bobby, Dalton, the Dome Patrol, Bum, Mora, Ditka, Hasslett. I remeber them all well. A little too well, if you know what I mean. I don't need to sit here and qoute games to you people, you remeber every heart breaking loss just like I do.

We also remember the Saints making it to the NFC Championship game. The game I sometimes wish I would have never seen. "What!?!?" some of you may be saying...Yes, I wish it would have never happened. I was content in my misery of Saintshood. Comfortable, I should really say. I was happy with the Division titles we had won. As many of you were. But when they made it the NFC game, all bets were off.

With the Saints going to the NFC game our minds changed. We woke up and said, "HolyCrap! We can make it to THE SUPER BOWL!" and that changed to.."We WIN THE SUPER BOWL", and that has changed to.."WHY HAVE WE NOT WON A SUPER BOWL!"

Don't get me wrong, I want us to win. I want us to win a Super Bowl. But I don't want us to change the way we love this team. This season is not dead, it's not over. And yes, I will still cuss after every bad play, but I will not give up on this team.

I remember my first game in the dome and seeing everyone with bags on thier heads and I asked my dad;"Why do those people have those bags?" "Because the Saints suck, son",he replied. I then asked him, "Well why do we root for them?" "Because son, just because."

That is a hell of a statement if you ask me. "Because son, just because." I can't tell any of you why much less my own children why I root for this team. I can even tell you why I love this team other than "Because guys, just beacuse."
