LSU will welcome 105 football players to campus on Friday as the Tigers begin their third season under head coach Les Miles.
Friday will serve as an orientation day for the Tigers as the team will check-in to West Campus Apartments in the morning, while the afternoon will be used for football-related activities. The players will undergo physicals with the training staff and team doctors during the afternoon as well as getting fitted for equipment.
LSU will hold its first practice on Saturday morning as the veterans will workout at the Charles McClendon Practice Facility. The freshmen, along with selected veterans, will practice on Saturday afternoon. The first two days of practice will have the team working out in shorts and helmets.
The team will add shoulder pads in days three and four before dressing out in full pads for the first time on Wednesday, Aug. 8. After four days of split squad practices, the Tigers will workout as a full unit for the first time on Aug. 8.
LSU opens its season on Thursday, Aug. 30 when they travel to Starkville, Miss., to face Mississippi State in a nationally televised Thursday night contest. The Tigers return 15 starters from last year’s team that posted an 11-2 overall mark, which culminated with a 41-14 win over Notre Dame in the Sugar Bowl.
