Rayville receiver Chris Tolliver commits to LSU
By Paul J. Letlow
LSU landed one of the state’s top prospects today when Rayville wide receiver Chris Tolliver made his verbal commitment to the Tigers.
Tolliver picked LSU over Nick Saban’s offer to sign with Alabama.
“It came down probably to just the fact that LSU is a Louisiana school and closer to home,” Rayville coach Bo Barton said. “I would say that’s the No. 1 thing.”
Tolliver is ranked as the No. 2 player in Louisiana by Rivals.com, the No. 10 wide receiver nationally and the No. 68 prospect in the country overall.
Tolliver called LSU coach Les Miles today to tell him of his plans after making his official visit over the weekend.
Tolliver is the second northeastern Louisiana product pledged to sign with LSU. Sterlington wide receiver Matt Branch committed to the Tigers over the summer.
