A letter of apology to Jarrett Lee* *(Posted on 1/10/12 at 11:50 a.m.)
Dear Jarrett,

Thank you for coming to LSU and putting your heart and soul into the team, busting your butt in practice, preparing each week as if you were going to have an opportunity to play and contribute, overcoming adversity and maintaining a positive, team-oriented attitude even when your coaches seemed to ignore the fact that you have proven over and over that:

1. You are better than Jordan Jefferson.
2. You make better decisions.
3. You are a much better passer.
4. While "the feet" of Jefferson apparently meant everything to the coaches, you in fact also have feet and can move in the pocket to avoid the rush at times, like last year when you stepped up into the pocket against Alabama on 3rd and 13 to complete a pass to Rueben Randle for 55 yards which sewed up the victory late in the game.
5. The offense plays better and more in rhythm when you are behind the center, less offsides penalties, better blocking, better route running by the receivers, more consistency, and way more sustained drives for scores!!!

Yes, you have had a tendency to throw off your back foot under pressure on occasion. And yes, you have a tendency to throw balls into coverage when in the face of a strong pass rush. However, overall your QB rating is off the charts compared to Jefferson. He has never shown consistency as a top flight QB. He has had some excellent games, like the bowl game against Ga Tech three years ago, the game against Ole Miss last year, the second half against Bama and the Cotton Bowl last year. But otherwise he has been sub-par.

My apologies that the coaches neglected the fact that you led LSU to come back victories last year against Tennessee and Florida and saved the victory over Bama.

My apologies that the coaches forgot that you were the QB on a smooth running offense for the first 7 games of this year and had no bad games nor many bad plays.

My apologies that the coaches had not enough respect for what you meant to the team to give you some decent playing time in spite of blunder after blunder by Jordan Jefferson.

My apologies that you were essentially banned from the field because you threw two interceptions in the Bama game even though Jefferson essentially created turnover after turnover by dropping snaps in almost ever game since he returned to the starting lineup.

My apologies that, when it was obvious that LSU would not win the NC, you were not even given a chance to change the pace. Maybe the coaches were afraid that you would come in and shine and make them look foolish. I know that LSU was apparently not prepared to take on Bama in this NC. I know the pass rush would have been difficult for you as it was for Jefferson, but I certainly feel that it couldn't have been any worse than what was happening. Miles said it would not have been fair to you to put you in the face of Bama's pressure. He felt that Jefferson's feet gave LSU a better chance. Did he not watch the game?!!! That was the worst game by a QB that I have seen in college football history!

Jarrett, I wish you all the best. I will miss you and the attitude you brought to the team. I am sorry I didn't get to see you play more. I think you might have made a difference.

Sincerely,

LSU Fan

I really wish the best for Jarrett. I was never off his bandwagon since the day he signed his LOI. I think he receive too much flack for what was a red shirt freshman starting in the best conference in college football. Through practices and scrimmages in the ensuing years, you never heard a complaint and all he did was practice hard, be a team player, and not to mention... out perform all the other quarterbacks on the roster. He never got a his fair shake and hopefully some NFL team out there can recognize that he has enough talent to at least be a clipboard holder in the NFL. Let him work with an good quarterback coach to reduce the amount of throws he tosses on his back feet and their plenty of untapped potential there.

Good luck to you... I hope the NFL gives you a legitimate chance unlike your alma mater.

They started him as a kid and threw him to the wolves of the SEC as a redshirt. This year in the first 7 or 9 games he threw for so many yards and completions he was still up for SEC MVP EVEN AFTER not playing since Nov 4.

Les Miles is a tard and he's taken several steps backward in respect with me and many others after this JOKE.

I don't think I'll ever understand why he didn't get a chance in that game. After 3+ quarters of futility, what did Les have to lose? Boggles the mind.

The letter above was well written and I couldn't agree more. Frustrating part is wondering what kind of a difference he could have made.

Ran into a old friend of my late Dad's at Applebees a few weeks ago; both going solo we sat together at the bar as I bought lunch and we talked football...

I usually look for and pick up subtle things when watching football when discussing with my friends...

Mr. Frank, who has a son being recruited to play college football, had caught me off guard with this observation...

"...you know why I wouldn't want my boy playing for Les Miles and LSU? First, I don't like coaches that can't adjust their game plans to the players they have and play to those strengths. Second, when I saw that Lee boy a couple of years ago throw all those interceptions - I didn't see one LSU coach sitting on the sidelines with him, encouraging him, teaching him - not one..."

I went to another buddy of mine who's die-hard LSU fan and has the games digitally recorded. When I mentioned what Mr. Frank said, he went to two games rather quickly and Ffwd to various points after interceptions and guess what - that's exactly what happened...

You have to wonder how many prospects or their families notice this as well as recruiting cycle comes to a close...

You know what JP? That is what scares me the most. Great post, brother!

Great post Sarge. It is amazing how well he played in the game a few nights ago for Seniors. He may have one a shot at the NFL, but if he did not, I give him props for staying the course and honoring his commitment to the Tiger faithful even if the coaches gave him the short end of the stick. There is much to be said about a man who keeps his word. Good luck and God Speed JL

Great, GREAT point Byu!

That is one thing I have failed to mention about Jarrett Lee. Many times....MANY TIMES, I have sat there watching a game and said "If that was me, I'd tell Les to stick it you know where and walk off the field." That just shows to caliber of a person he is.

I wish nothing but the best of him in his future.

I just heard Kiper say Jordan Jefferson was the #1 pick on the big board, well truth be known I lied. Jefferson can't spell quarterback, and can't play like one either. Lee should have started every game, there is no comparison. Jefferson is a joke.

QBREES9 01-20-2012 10:49 PM

Dam Halloween 65 you had me for a second. Jefferson is a joke. Well he's gone now.
