Report: Two shot for cheering on 49ers
NewsCore
Updated Jan 16, 2012 3:47 AM ET

A Georgia man allegedly shot at two football fans in a restaurant parking lot — critically injuring one — because he took offense to their cheering for the San Francisco 49ers as they faced off against the New Orleans Saints.

Donald Ray Ayro, 31, was being held without bond Sunday after the incident, according to a police press release.

Corey Adams, 30, told WSB-TV that he and friend Chris Middleton, also 30, were confronted by Ayro inside an Applebee's restaurant in Duluth, Ga., as they celebrated a 49ers touchdown in the playoff game.

"The only thing me and my buddy said was, we were excited that the 49ers scored," Adams said. "It was only one touchdown."

According to Adams, the Saints fan then left but told the men he would return.

About 90 minutes later, Ayro allegedly fired gunshots at Adams and Middleton in the restaurant's parking lot.

"I took off running and he started shooting at me and shot like four or five times and he grazed the back of my head," Adams told WSB.

Middleton was shot in the chest. He was taken to nearby Gwinnett Medical Center in critical condition.

Police found Ayro through Adams' description of him and his vehicle. He was arrested and charged with two counts of aggravated assault, possession of a firearm by a felon and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, police said.

The 49ers beat the Saints 36-32 Saturday.

Mike,

Totally a classless loser. But you can't judge a book by its cover. I've had my fair share of LSU fans embarrass the garbage out of me to where I walked out of places before. Just remember those jersey's could be reversed.

It's pretty sad either way. Some people don't know how to act right.

Then again, as I'm an old fraternity guy... if a dude passed out at a party, it was a calling card for him to be written on with a Sharpee, tied to an anchor in front a sorority house naked, and photos taken to teach a lesson not to do that again. The passed out LSU fan is pretty embarrassing to start with.

Here's my take on this video

Again, like so many things I see today on TV, somewhat of a publicity stunt from WWL TV. Story gets some legs on LSU and Alabama forums and blogs. Couldn't find this video for the life of me on YouTube until AFTER this story aired, so I'm calling BS on that (believe me, I searched for it). It was on twitter while I was watching it on WWL.

Mark my words here, the District Attorney in New Orleans LAUGHED at WWL TV when they presented it--he doesn't have time to mess with childsplay with a stack of murders and felonies on his desk to prosecute. So, Scott Sachfield brought this video to Baton Rouge which is an hour away and where LSU fans are MOST SORE about the LSU loss to Bama.

The East Baton Rouge Parish DA Hillar C. Moore, III in an LSU grad, I met the guy before. A hardcore LSU fan. He went to Southern University Law School and graduated top of his class. Southern's Law school is made up of about 60% white folk.

Hillar is wearing a Southern University Basketball shirt, which is COMPLETE BS. I lived in Baton Rouge for years and LSU folk wear LSU stuff ALL THE TIME, and NEVER WEAR SOUTHERN STUFF EVER.

He wore that to look impartial... like he's not an LSU fan ;) (catch my drift). And so a story is created.

Again, this story stinks but it's also a publicity stunt to pit LSU vs. Bama and setup for a great hate rivalry game when Nick Saban and Bama come to Baton Rouge to play in 2012.

Just my take on it. Hope they catch the bastard who did that, he's a complete loser!

And you are probably right about everything you said. Crazy thing is, this didn't happen here or in Alabama, I believe they said it was in Georgia at a Castle Burger.

If anything, Castle Burger is probably about to lose some staff at a location..lmao How do let some crap like that go in INSIDE your public place of business??

I know College stuff goes on like this all the time especially at like frat parties. The end part happening in a frat house would be of no surprise but at a public restaurant?

I LMFAO when they said the LSU guy has not come forward to identify himself...ya think???

The video says at the beginning "The alleged incident happened at a fast food restaurant on Bourbon Street."

I believe it happened down the street from Bourbon (That's why I'm not on Bourbon for big events.)

Looks like the Popeyes on Canal down from Bourbon. Those poor Popeyes employees... They must get paid extra to handle all the drunks and idiots that frequent the place on weekends and holidays. LOL

Nah..they definitely said in the beginning, that people started by just putting Castle Burger trash on him. Definitely was not here.

Besides..wtf is up with all the **** that happens in Georgia?? Sounds like we need to send some fresh "behind the enemy lines" people..lol

I'm seriously asking, maybe I'm missing something Mike, just curious. :)

CharityMike 01-18-2012 10:10 AM

Wow..I am going to admit to being wrong and I will use Vicodin and Morphine as my excuse ( just had back surgery...again so don't panic) BUT.... I noticed it says that the video was updated yesterday..hmm I swear to god when I first saw this they made no mention that it happened on Bourbon. I only new about the castle burger thing because thats what I think they say said and if you look at the little cartons on the guy's back, thats the same kind of cartons they use for castle burgers.

Oh well..I plead guilty.

I'm hearing from a co-worker that the guy's father who did the stunt, may be losing his job because of the incident. He said something about his father being a radio DJ/TV host or something in the media field. Just here-say.

SapperSaint 01-18-2012 01:48 PM

As disgusting as it is....

The Fineboughm Talk Show has been talking about this for 2 days now. A lot of Bama people calling for that guys head as well as the others who stood their and let him do it. Every once in a while a Bama fan, (The type that makes you hate Bama) will get on there and laugh about it.

They are saying it was at a Krystal Burger.

One Bama Alum said he traced the video back to a kid that was a Bama student and has alerted the University as to whom the student is. He would give the kids name on air. As with anything...who knows if he really did all that. If he did, kudos and major thumbs up for him!

gandhi1007 01-18-2012 06:00 PM

It was at the Krystal Burger & the guy is going to jail.....period. There are five felony charges to be brought up on him alone, 1 felony charge on the friend that posted the video, & two misdemeanor charges each for all those involved. Glad this guy enjoyed sexual acts with another man, because he's going to get alot of that in jail. Only he's going to be awake & on the other end of it. ;-)

Why would his father lose his job?

The NOPD now have all the names & the guy that was assaulted has hired an attorney & is, in fact, pressing charges on all involved. The guy to the far right in the back (not the tea bagger) is the Sports News director for a TV station in Mobile's son. I don't know anything about the guy losing his job, but here's the link to the news station admitting to the son being involved:

Nobody.... but NOOOOBODY gets away from Sheriff Beauford T. Justice!

SaintsBella 01-20-2012 12:40 PM

Here is a blog from, I'm assuming, an Alabama alum.
I Bleed Crimson Red:

I guess people are going to have differing opinions. I don't think the incident was right and I'd feel that way no matter what team's fans did it.
