Huskies may be in for hot night in BR

The Washington Huskies will bring the heat Saturday with their high-flying passing game.

The LSU Tigers will already have the heat on display when the Huskies arrive — with buckets on the sideline to catch the sweat.

There’s little doubt Washington will test the No. 3-ranked Tigers with one of the most dangerous passing attacks they will see all season.

But the South Louisiana September weather — hot and sticky with about a 50-50 chance of rain — will likely test the Huskies’ stamina and maybe have them wishing their visit to Tiger Stadium was scheduled for another season.

Christmas, perhaps.

It was 67 degrees with 52 percent humidity for the 7:30 p.m. kickoff in Seattle on Saturday as Washington turned back San Diego State 21-12. It was 82, cloudy and humid in Tiger Stadium, still damp in spots from the drenching rain of Hurricane Isaac, for LSU’s 41-14 win over North Texas.

Certainly they know precipitation in Seattle, which averages about 150 rainy days per year.

But the combination of heat and humidity is something the sub-tropical South has in abundance.

Looks like wifey is dragging me to this game, too!

Gonna throttle it back a bit this week with the tailgating. Knowing completely well that drinking heavily all day in unnatural heat / humidity is a bad idea did nothing to stop me last week, and by game time I was in rough shape.

That said, the Huskies will be hating life when they take that sauna of a field Saturday night. Best thing they can hope for is rain.

Oh, we only get tickets so easily because wifey is a law student at LSU. Her student tix are super-cheap (about $10 per game), but we have to pay an extra $22 per ticket for me because I'm not - and never have been - an LSU student.

I have fun and everything - heck, it's SEC football - but I guess it would be much cooler if I was an LSU fan!

Washington had given up by the middle of the 3rd quarter. They were losing, yet still trying to run the clock out ... they just wanted out of there. The game was getting hard to watch.

We left early in the 4th, which is longer than most people stayed! I had to be at work in NOLA at 7 AM Sunday, so we wanted to beat some of the traffic so I could get some sleep.
