As Q mentioned, going to the Cards with Patrick Peterson keeping him clean may have indeed been the best situation he could have hoped for.

I'm happy for him.

Hopefully loosing that year of football was enough of a shock to make him sirting out his life.
Baby steps so far but so far so good.

Coming from a hardcore Bama fan... that comment is much respected. For two years at LSU, he was one of the dominating players I've ever seen on the field ever... at least on the defensive side.

It was 100% due to his apology that sounded very sincere. Having dealt with addiction issues and many friends/family with addictions I know how hard it is to overcome. New friends/new playground isn't as easy as many think.

"Sitting in that jail cell, it clicked," an emotional Mathieu said. "Looking at those people, just staring at me. 'You don't belong in here.' They wanted to come through the jail cell and get me. I'm scared now. Because it's reality now. I don't ever want to feel like this again. I'm not going to feel like this again."

I've heard numerous versions of this same statement. Unfortunately many slip and start using again. He has an opportunity to inspire a lot of people.

I'll still rag on him for the cheap shot on Kirkpatrick tho.
