The program formerly known as the University of Michigan

Not only did the Scarlet Knights of Rutgers (Rutgers!?!?!) beat the program formerly known as the University of Michigan at home (Piscataway), they blocked the game winning field goal attempt ... it was a pretty rough weekend in Ann Arbor all around, :(.

It was declining before his arrival ... he did a better job than its current coach...and he did not lose as the current coach is. Rodriguez is turning around Arizona right now.

Question remains.... who is the next Michigan coach? Les Miles, Harbaugh?

I'm right there with you, SloMo. Really sucks to be a Michigan football fan right now.

That would be ideal. I doubt either of those guys end up as Michigan's HC next year though, as much as I would love it to happen.

- There's a lot of reports saying Harbaugh and the 49ers don't get along, and Harbaugh might not be their HC next year. But my thing is, even if the 49ers let Harbaugh go, there would be like 10 other NFL teams trying to hire him. I don't think he would return to the college game.

- Why would Miles leave LSU? He loves Michigan, but he's got a great thing going down in Baton Rouge. I don't know if he would just pack up and leave.

We will probably just have to take a chance on another "up and comer", as much as that sucks. I'm really hoping for Jeremy Pruitt or a Jake Spatival hire though. I think either of those guys would be a great.

It's ironic for all the flak Rich Rod took for his time in Michigan football, people are almost clamoring for him back, ... success at WV prior to MI and now what he's doing at Arizona have fans reflecting in hindsight. Personally, I did not like what he did for Michigan football,.

Either one of the Harbaugh brothers please, :D ... when Les was a candidate, I was on board with that also, :) ... somebody step up to the plate, pppllleeeaaassseee!,.

Yes, my Michigan State University fan barber has actually elevated all his Spartan paraphernalia on the shop walls several inches above the UofM stuff and has started calling MSU "Quarterback U" as former grads Stanton (ARI), Hoyer (CLE), Cousins (WAS) are all NFL starters this season ... I have no UofM comeback, :(.

You think so? Harbaugh eventually alienates everyone around him & I'm hoping the pro teams turn their back on him. He is a winner and his alma mater needs him, :).

I wanted Les when they were considering him before, but I agree, he's got too much going on at LSU to leave for a program in disarray.

Another "up & comer", ... geez! All we really want to do is win the Big Ten, beat Ohio State & go to a Rose Bowl once in a while ... you'd think it wouldn't be that difficult,.

Eh, in some ways I still think Hoke is better than Rodriguez was. Hoke is actually a really good recruiter, he just doesn't know how to develop the talent he gets. So our team is pretty talented, they just receive no good coaching. RichRod didn't even recruit well.

Man, you have no idea how much I want Harbaugh lol... What he did at Stanford was absolutely amazing, I don't think I've seen another program be completely turned around like that. He'd probably fix Michigan within a season. I am definitely hoping that you're right, hopefully the NFL is sick of his antics

Haha, well hopefully if we do have to settle for an up and comer, it works out this time. Honestly I'm just hoping we look for people outside of the Michigan coaching tree this go around. I've no idea why we box ourselves in like that. Only considering people who have Michigan ties severely narrows the candidate list.. That needs to stop.

Maybe you all can overpay Saban.... I hear he likes to renegotiate every couple of years for more $. :broccoli:

I'm with you there, :) ... liked some things about RichRod and some things not, same with Hoke. Hoke's press conferences irk me no end and more than a few times I've seen him pull a bonehead move that could have been averted by wearing a headset, ... but hey, being 'old-school' was his attraction, I suppose.

It is time to start looking outside of the box, going with someone who doesn't necessarily have Michigan ties. You're right, the coaching talent pool has severely shrunk since the day when Bo was coaching up assistants and preparing them to run their own programs.

My barber's grandson went to De LaSalle with "Sugar" Shane Morris, but other than that, I'm outmanned/outgunned by the MSU crowd in there ... next time you're in town & need a haircut, let me know ... my treat, ;).

 ... man, IDK ... they'd forgive him at University of Michigan for coaching the LSU and Alabama programs, but that Michigan State tick mark on his resume may not go over so well in Ann Arbor,. (I'd take him though, ;))
