State of LSU Athletics

this is a discussion within the College Community Forum; Have expectations of LSU alumni and fans become unrealistic, is the bar set too high? Should LSU maintain the status quo or does the program need changes? If so, how far?...

Re: State of LSU Athletics

2 times LSU Alumni here.
The LSU Board of supervisors is a little corrupt. It's Louisiana, what do you expect?
That can only be offset by a strong President.
When Mark Emmert was LSU System President, the school made some important changes and hired Nick Saban.

The current System President is a joke.
And Joe Alleva sucks.
LSU needs a new direction and it starts at the very top of leadership.

Read Emmert's accomplishments at LSU

"The graduation rate of the LSU football team, among the lowest in the SEC when Emmert arrived, was among the highest by 2004."

Nope, the bar isn't' set too high.

One could argue LSU is top 5-10 in terms of talent every year, a ton of players are on NFL rosters (most are good to ELITE at the position) yet only 4 bowl games in 12 seasons? Coach "O" and the rah rah speeches have grown old.

At some point, they need to truly develop a QB. LSU can do a LOT better & it starts at the top.

Re: State of LSU Athletics

LSU is in a very unique position, athletically, that I'm not sure any other school can boast of. And that is that they are in the middle of a talent rich area, with ZERO other power schools in state to compete with them. That should make LSU a dream job for any coach, especially in the major sports.

And yet, with the current regime of F. King Alexander, Joe Alleva and the various cronies around them, LSU consistently settles for less. This makes it very apparent that coaches around the country don't trust the leadership. It can't possibly be about lack of money and opportunity. They just don't want the aforementioned circus clowns impeding their progress.

It's been a long time since I've been to a game, but from everything I hear, the concessions are terrible at nearly, if not all, events. People complain to LSU, and all that happens is ticket prices, and parking fees go up every year. LSU fans are being punished for their support of the program, and as a result fewer people can afford season tickets. The stands are rarely full anymore, and people are leaving early because the parking and traffic situation is horrible, and LSU does nothing about it.

They got really fortunate when they hit a home run in hiring Will Wade, who about 12 people had heard of, to coach the basketball team. He has been a breath of fresh air, so far. Other than that, the administration has been a joke.

If I had a nickel for every time I heard that, the NFL would fine and suspend me.
