He was out by half a step .... I'm still surprised how well the pitcher took it after the game, not only did he accept the ump's apology but I heard him on ESPN saying well everyone makes mistakes. Sorry but I don't think I would of handled it that way if it was me

Baseball is all kinds of crazy, man. Only in baseball can a guy have a winning grand slam and break his ankle coming to home plate and be out for the rest of the season.

Sucks he didn't an official perfect game, but he got a brand new Corvette out of it. I think that's a nice consolation.

Oh he was out. From a baseball perspective he was out by a long shot...not even close. On a bang-bang play I might give the ump some slack, but umpires in Major League Baseball are amazingly accurate, even with the bang-bang plays. This guy BLEW it, absolutely, totally, and completely.

Having said that, the last thing baseball needs is replay.
