C and UNIX originator Ritchie dies

Would computers and digital devices as we know them today even be a reality without the spectacular work done by Dennis Ritchie? For those of you non-technies, Ritchie was a primary creator of the C language and UNIX operating systems. Without Mr. Ritchie's efforts there well might be no PHP, Java, Linux and so many other technical innovations that have made most of my career employment and the development of websites like Facebook even possible. We all owe Mr. Ritchie immeasurably for developing the core for pretty much every piece of technology used today.

My condolences to the family and friends of Dennis Ritchie. In dedication now I should go to the UNIX command line and compile an application from C source code tonight.
