Rescued dog bites NBC anchor in the face during feel-good segment gone wrong | The Cutline - Yahoo! News

It was supposed to be one of those feel-good segments on a local television newscast: A rescued dog. A grateful owner. The hero firefighter who pulled the pulled the dog from the ice. But that's not how it turned out.
The dog, an Argentine mastiff named Gladiator Maximus, attacked Kyle Dyer, anchorwoman at NBC's KUSA Denver affiliate, during a live, in-studio segment on Wednesday that was meant to celebrate the dog's rescue from an icy lake the day before.
Dyer was shown petting the mastiff during the segment, then kneeling on the floor to get closer, when the 85-pound pooch bit her in the face. Paramedics and animal control were called to the studio. Dyer was rushed to a Denver hospital where she had reconstructive surgery overnight. The 3-year-old dog was taken to a Denver animal shelter where it is being "quarantined."
Video of the attack, as you might imagine, has gone viral, but KUSA has been issuing take-down notices, trying to get the clip off the Internet. (The "Today" show won't even show it.)
Patti Dennis, KUSA vice president of news, said Dyer's surgery was successful, and that Dyer is expected back to work in a few weeks. "The surgeon was pleased with the outcome," Dennis said. "Kyle says she wants everyone to know she is OK and is concerned about the viewers who were watching the incident live on TV."
"Several people interacted with the dog [prior to the segment] and everything seemed fine," Dennis said. "Then at the last moment, the dog had behavior that nobody predicted or understood. Clearly we learned something."
Dyer is known for a weekly segment--"Kyle's Kritters"--that showcases animals from the Denver Zoo.

What I find odd is the 2 guys are just calm as a cucumber. WTF..the women had to have reconstructive surgery so it must have been a pretty bad bite, and these 2 numb nuts don't even flinch. Something seems funny about this.

I've told my kids for years, Never Ever get in the face of a strange dog...He WILL bite you. Period. Ten bucks says that woman is a cat person and knows nothing about dogs. No offense FF. LOl

Unfortunately some are strong enough to rip your face off.

So a man in the video clip said, "People have an obligation to make sure their dog doesn't bite people."

Yeah, well, people have an obligation to educate themselves. Now the dog owner has been cited for a 'leash law' violation, and you can bet the idiots will be crawling out of the woodwork wanted the dog to be 'put down'.

That dog did everything right. That reporter did everything wrong. It is NOT...AND I REPEAT IT IS NOT the dog's fault!

D&*M!!!! What was she trying to do? Kiss the dog. She said Happy Valentine's Day to the dog. She was was down low, too close to the dog as well. He appeared friendly, but rule 1, unless you know a dog as in your own, then there are still no-nos.
Poor girl.

1.) You NEVER can kiss a strange dog on the mouth/head/neck
2.) the dog was trying to defend itself and say "get out of my face"
3.) that's a boar hunting dog and can do some serious damage.

4.) this woman is an idiot.

I would never put my face in the face of a strange dog to kiss it. People are stupid and don't realize that dogs aren't teddy-bears.

Try that with a cat and you will be bleeding long before that. LOL

There was nothing aggressive that I saw with the dog that signaled that the dog might even bite her.
The last time I kissed a dog she only had 2 legs.

Yes, she was trying to kiss the dog on his nose. The dog, a strange dog, not her dog, did not want to be kissed on the nose by some strange lady.
