Nonunion Ala. crews turned away from Sandy recovery

SEASIDE HEIGHTS, NEW JERSEY (WAFF) -
The hurricane-ravaged east coast has been receiving north Alabama help, but crews learned they'll be doing work in Long Island, New York instead of in New Jersey.

Crews from Decatur Utilities and Joe Wheeler out of Trinity headed up there this week, but Derrick Moore, one of the Decatur workers, said they were told by crews in New Jersey that they can't do any work there since they're not union employees.

I have NO pity on you people at all. You can go wallow in your own filfth. Those union thugs need to be taken out and have the daylights beat out of them.

I don't hate unions put that pretty much sums up everything thats bad with them.

Had to edit my post. That is so stupid that it pretty much should be illegal.

I was in New York for a project 6 months ago or so. The site was not prepared appropriately and it took over two days with different union membered trades to fix the site for a proper installation. It cost my company over twice as much to keep me there. And I had to stay on top of it as a GC to ensure its readiness. :bang:

I'm glad to see they'll be working in Long Island and it was only New Jersey that turned them away ... it won't be a wasted trip & they'll be able to do some good. Shame on New Jersey, there's a time to play the 'union' card and there's a time not to play the 'union' card ... this would be one of those times not to play the 'union' card, eh?

:lol:, "Fuh-gedda-boud-dit" ... and listening to the radio last night, New Jersey was lagging behind in their efforts to restore power & services, go figure. If I was a NJ resident, I'd be a little verklempt right about now ...
