While regular, full-calorie beer was once the mainstream, now light has become the primary beer of choice. Budweiser, once by far the most popular beer, has now fallen to third place in domestic sales, with 17.2 million barrels shipped in 2011, compared to Coors Light’s 17.4 million. The U.S. beer leader is, by a long shot, Bud Light, with 39.15 million barrels sold last year.

Figure it's about time for a 'beer thread' ... I need a break. Saints are losing, Lions are losing, there's the absurdity of being accused a racist because I may disagree with liberal propaganda from time-to-time, world coming to an end 12/21, Falcons possibly winding up in the SuperBowl, going over the 'fiscal cliff', wrestling is not 'real' ... it's all almost too much for a man to bear ... almost. That's where the beer comes in,.

Sapporo is probably my all-time favorite. It's light, it's crisp, it's clean. It's like water with cool flavoring. It's also imported, slightly expensive & hard to find.

Then come the 'shop-guy/steel-worker' beers ... PBR, Stroh's, Blatz ... in that order. Cut my teeth on a Blatz, literally. Neighbor gave me one when I was a kid, put it to my mouth and tried to remove the cap with my teeth ... didn't work out well. PBR (Pabst Blue Ribbon) remains my personal favorite & in 1976 was the #1 selling beer in America. Stroh's was a hometown favorite & a surefire way to have a hangover the next morning ... always figured it had something to do with the 'fire-brewing'.

Honorable Mention goes to Stella Artois, brewed for the holidays & I keep a few bottles in the fridge during that time in order to make visitors feel special.

I don't really drink any of the nine beers on the list, and if you offered me #9, Milwaukee's Best, I'd ask you if you're trying to pick a fight with me, ... not that I'm so much a beer-snob that I wouldn't drink anything put down in front of me either. The Buds', the Millers', the Old Milwaukees' & the Michelobs' just never appealed to me all that much.

So, here's to you Black & Gold, ... and excuse me if I get started on my holidays a little bit early this year,.

Falcons possibly winding up in the SuperBowl,

You had me until here, lol.

I drink the Amber beers myself. I, like you though, usually would drink whatever they put in front of me.
