Thief returns four stolen rings with an apology letter after 15 years
 

Teenage house parties can get a bit crazy especially when unknown people show up to the party.


This was the case with Margot Riphagen, who was 16-years-old, at the time when she held a house party for some friends. During the party other people showed up and four rings went missing.



Two of the rings belonged to her mother, Mrs. Riphagen, while the other two had belonged to her grandmother and was meant to be given to the girls when they grew up. At the time, the family was very upset about the loss of the rings.


Now, 15 years later, the thief returned all four stolen rings along with an apology letter.
“I hope you can find it in your hearts to forgive me,” reads part of the letter. (see the full letter below) “I recently found these rings while cleaning
and I wanted to make sure to return them as I'm sure they were missed dearly,” the thief also wrote.

The letter was signed “Sincerely regretful, A dumb kid who wants to right a wrong.”


"We don't care who it was. I was stupid when I was 16 and I'm sure they were too. Somebody did it for the thrill of it, not for money," Riphagen said.


Riphagen, 31, who now lives in Portland, Oregon, is grateful to have the rings back.
