Oh it's kinda funny, but I'm not much on it really. Of course, being from Louisiana I know people like the characters in the show, so maybe it's just that I'm not as in awe of their behavior as other people?

I dunno. I just read where they're asking for more than 200k an episode. Crazy man. Just crazy...

I forgot to mention my one MAJOR complaint about the show!!

On one of the episodes, the Duck Dynasty guys played a football game and a lot of them wore Vikings colored jerseys!!!! WTFO!!!!

Re: Duck Dynasty

The first time or two I watched, I didn't really like it, but I've warmed up to it after a few more episodes. They're a pretty down-to-earth, entertaining family. Sy cracks me up, the constant competitions between Wille & Jase and Miss Kay's cooking. A few of my favorite episodes are where the crew turns the shipping dock into a duck pond, Miss Kay sells Phil's favorite recliner in a yard sale, Jase builds an office over the only entrance to Willie's office, Sy takes the nieces to repair/build a duck blind, Willie & Jase have a fishing competition.

TheOak 03-28-2013 04:59 AM

I've got a few favs also.

Sy and Phil do career day at Willies kids school. St covers Nam with the kindergartners lol

The company casino night was pretty good too.

Lets clear something up. Are they in Louisiana? Technically yes. But W. Monroe is more like South Arkansas.

They are not coonasses, they are rednecks, become familiar with the difference.

:)

Now about the football game.

When I watch that show, Si is so jittery it seems like he's a walking/talking, life-sized bobble head,.

I realize that there's a place for everyone in the world, but celebrating/exploiting the absolute lowest common denominator with a personality disorder is now a serious problem.

Have we given up?

That would be a question for A&E, I am in it purely for the entertainment.

As far as for personality disorders... You may have to channel surf until you run out of thumb to find a show lacking someone who is narcissistic or has a personality flaw.... as all personalities are flawed to some extent.

Think it may have to do with the fact that he's main-lining tea from the minute he wakes up every day? LMBO!!

They can't wear NFL Jerseys with out paying a fee. You don't see any brand names on most TV shows.

Re: Duck Dynasty

A&E’s docu-soap phenomenon shattered previous ratings records for its Wednesday night finale. The episode following the Robertson clan to Hawaii delivered 9.6 million viewers and a 4.3 adults 18-49 rating.
That rating makes Duck Dynasty the highest-rated show last night — and not just on cable. The number is bigger then CBS’ Survivor (2.9) and bigger than Fox’s American Idol (3.3). As you can see, the fight wasn’t even close.
Duck Dynasty, along with AMC’s The Walking Dead, represent small-yet-growing number of cable shows that can overthrow the heavy hitters on broadcast. Season three of Duck Dynasty averaged 8.4 million total viewers (up 95% versus season 2) and 4.8 million adults 18-49 (up 92%), making it cable’s top-rated reality series this year, and the No. 2 original series overall behind only The Walking Dead.
Fox’s American Idol has suffered a rather dramatic ratings decline this season, though last night’s episode was basically on par with the previous week. The once-unbeatable franchise has endured several ratings indignities of late, such as getting topped by repeats of CBS’ The Big Bang Theory. Being trounced by a cable show is now added to the list, but that’s hardly a unique badge of dishonor this season.

Re: Duck Dynasty

Anyway ... not being a duck hunter or duck-call afficianado, what is so unique about these guys' duck calls that they can make millions from them? I get a duck-call or two every year from the Ducks Unlimited booth at a local fishing show & it just doesn't seem that complicated a product to produce.

Sapper? This might be one for the Outdoors group, eh?

All duck calls are not created equally. My brother used to call at competitions (sigh)... DuckCommander is all he would blow. It's all about the reed or reeds and how well the call holds up to moisture through a hunt.

I suppose to us they all sound relatively close, to Ducks the DuckCommander is the Pavorotti, everything else is Bieber.

I did not realize the chatter about Bradshaw playing second fiddle to Phil was true.

His patent is a call that duplicates the Mallard Drake.

Re: Duck Dynasty

Phil reinvented the way duck calls are made. He made the first double reed duck call. Unless you are a hunter, it's hard to explain why/what he did, was so great. Just know, that in the duck hunting world; Phil is a living legend.

As far as the show goes:

If you don't live in LA and want to see coonasses, watch Swamp People.

If you want to see a good wholesome show; no cussing, no nudity, no vulgery; then DD is a good show.

I read the "Non-Coonass" post. Not everyone in LA speaks French or with a cajun accent. As was stated in that post; they are "Rednecks" and the Robertson, will tell you that. (I did not give them that "label", they call themselves that. I say that so "someone" won't call be a "Borderlined bigot")

Me and my family enjoy the show.
With all the, "Teen Mom", keeping up with Kardashians, Honey Boo Boo (The all time dumbest show in TV history), Housewives of where ever; It's good to see a family values show.

Yes, VERY true. Ole' Punkinhead Bradshaw, himself, has said the greatest thing ever to happen to him was the day Phil Robertson chose ducks over football.

If history had gone different, we would be looking a Phil on FOX Sunday NFL.

Phil can play some ball.
