Kid put on by an adult. But there's a point to all this.
Moral of the story is: if you're a servant to the people, never put yourself above the people you serve. Also, never stooping so low as those who do so themselves.

Pay may be bad, street people suck, but still a responsibility comes with the badge and uniform. This cop agreed to that when he signed his agreement with civil service.

I've worked for some high profile companies, all of which I wore their uniform. While in that uniform, I pretty much had to behave in the HIGHEST manner of respectability or face losing that job and uniform.

All the cop had to do was talk to the kid and say his badge number when asked. It's all public info. Hate to tell him but there are cameras everywhere and it's not illegal to film either a cop doing his job or a crime in progress - ever, anywhere, or in any common jurisdiction.

The cop only needed to say "I'm getting a cup of coffee on duty" and his badge number. No one asked him to argue and debate a kid, that's not his job.

Because the cop failed to perform the least of acknowledgements, he now has a YouTube video where he answers questions with "huh" and "what". It looks bad. Engaging the kid calmly for 5 seconds would have gone a million miles in not only forging trust with people on the street, but also persuading Youtube watchers that 'hey... this guy is at work.... leave him alone.'

One of the few perks of being a police officer.

The kid behind the camera would probably piss in his pants if faced with the stuff the most police officers have seen.

Military, police, firemen, EMTs, none of them do their jobs for the pay, good work conditions, or easy hours. They all have a sense of duty to their fellow people, city, state, country. It can't be taught or learned.

There are also the bad eggs that do it for the wrong reason.

Cops break the law every damn time they give me a speeding ticket. How else do you think they catch me.

Why is the kid trying to get more funding for police, firemen and teachers?
