All European goalie fight:

Not a fight, but check this out SloMo. This is from SM-Liiga and the culprit is from the team I played for as a junior. The team's name is Tappara, which is the Finnish name for that type of a two-sided axe, which they have as their logo.

The player really takes the whole axe thing to heart and tries to replicate an axe hit with his stick. The end result was a minor penalty for slashing... you got to be kidding... he brakes his stick in half and it's a small wonder the other guy doesn't get injured. That's SM-Liiga for you!

Whoa! That's laying on the lumber ... we call that giving someone a "BC backhander" ... a two-handed swing with the stick, characteristic of British Columbia hockey back in the day ... and I must have been thinking about the Vernon/Roy goalie fight, not Hasek/Roy which you're right, was more of a slip & fall then a fight.

While fighting seems to be on the decline in the rest of the hockey world, the QHL seems to have risen it to an art form, .

Can't remember when but didn't the Redwings and Avalanche have a brawl for the ages after the first face off one night?

Yep, '95-'02 ... those two clubs definitely had some donnybrooks, ... it was like Hatfields & McCoys, nobody could remember how it started and nobody cared (except it was because Lemieux boarded Draper in the '96 Conference Finals and broke his jaw, ) ... they were gonna' just fight it out every time they met.

They kinda' run together in memory now, but the one you're referring to is probably this one, in '98 ... at 1:20 in the video it shows McCarty jawing at Lemieux, "No turtle this time", referring to their '97 meeting where Lemieux went to the ice and covered up, but IMO, Lemieux turtled not because he didn't want to fight, but because McCarty hammered him (2:40 in the second video) and Lemieux couldn't answer the bell ... McCarty and a couple Wings used to work out with the Kronk's Gym boys (of Emanuel Steward, Hilmer Kenty, Tommy Hearns, the McCrory brothers, et... fame) and packed one helluva' punch, .
