But on a more serious note, I might actually go to some games for a change if there's an injection of NHL players into the Finnish league. I haven't been to a game in a couple of years, mainly because I live in another city at the moment than where I'm from and where my team plays. But also because the game is not that entertaining - especially compared to the NHL, or the AHL for that matter.
So, while it would suck big time if there was a lockout, it would definitely be a good thing for many European leagues, who'd probably see a rise in their attendance records because of the potential NHL players they could attract to their teams.
Yeah, I would imagine it'd be like following an OHL/IHL minor league team ... which I do from time to time, ie Windsor Spirfires, Detroit Vipers (defunct), Belle River Canadians, Leamington Flyers, Sarnia Sting, Wheatley Sharks. You're right, it's certainly not the level of play in the NHL, but I'm in a rink, I can smell the ice and it's still a pretty good day ... <sigh> ... no lockout, please, .
True- it was always cool to see a name you recognize in the minors. In Columbia, SC of all places I got to see Federov's brother and Alex Auld. The Columbia team also had a big defenseman who played several years for Ottawa. He just liked living there and hung on as long as he could. Young guys used to try to try him and he would just absolutely kick the crap out of them. Fighting on skates is a science, and he had it down.
if they cancel the season, we may have to rename the group the B&G Knitting Group or something, .
A fresh rumor--finally-- Subban to the Flyers?
Philadelphia Flyers talking PK Subban trade with Montreal Canadiens? | Puck Daddy - Yahoo! Sports
Anyway, the Finnish league starts next Friday, so at least there'll be some hockey in the meantime...
Oh man, I froze when I read the sentence about a possible trade for Sean Couturier because I couldn't believe Philly would even consider it ... glad it was cleared up in the same paragraph that Laviolette nixed the idea ... back to stressing about the lockout, .
