Happy Birthday Lionel Ferbos
 Local trumpeter Lionel Ferbos will set a record on Sunday, July 17, as the only active jazz musician in New Orleans to reach a triple-digit birthday, and he's getting a lot of attention for it. He's featured in a lengthy piece on USA Today, and The Times-Picayune's Keith Spera wrote about Ferbos' upcoming birthday and his life so far. Lionel Ferbos performed his annual gig at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival's Economy Hall Tent on May 6, 2011. Ferbos still plays regularly at The Palm Court Jazz Cafe on Decatur Street and also holds an annual gig at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival presented by Shell.
