Motley Crue calling it quits, planning huge farewell tour

The heavy metal band Motley Crue is done rocking together.

The band, who has been together for 33 years, announced on Tuesday that they are retiring, but they will do a massive farewell tour first.

Vince Neil, Nikki Sixx, Tommy Lee and Mick Mars made the announcement at a heavily promoted press conference on Tuesday afternoon.

"We just want to go out on top. Leave a legacy behind," Neil said, according to band's verified Twitter account, which posted constant updates from the event. "We won't be doing any more concerts after this. This is the final tour."

Ill either be at the Woodlands or Biloxi show. I have an old High School friend of mine that is coming with me, he lives near Biloxi and I live 45mins from The Woodlands.

We went to Lake Charles in 1987 to see them for the Girls, Girls, Girls tour.

Little Side bar : We bought tickets, looked at who was the lead and asked each other.. "who in the phuck is Guns n Roses"?

I remember walking in G&R were playing Paradise City and the Civic Center was only 15% filled.

Just reminded me of when I saw Cinderella/Bon Jovi at the Civic Center in LC. Cinderella rocked. Bon Jovi threw a pep rally. LOL

Yep. And they'll sell too. I don't recall Van Halen being THAT expensive, but if you wanted the best seats and the whole backstage thing it was a bit North of a thousand dollars.

I ended up with great floor seats for the Oakland show on a Tuesday night and then I went back again the following Thursday for the San Jose show. All together I spent about 500 bucks and would do it again without question. In fact I wish I'd spent the grand or so to get backstage, but I'd only do that for a handful of groups/artists - Van Halen, The Eagles, McCartney, Sting, Dylan, just the biggies. There are a few others. The Crue? I like them very much, but not that much...

Didn't even know they were still together. Thanks for the music.

I saw Crue in Biloxi on what I believe was the Girls, Girls, Girls tour. Whitesnake opened I think. That was a long time ago. Remember it being a good show.

I also saw them open for Ozzy at UNO Lakefront Arena. That must have been '83 or '84 because I was still in high school.

If one is careful, one can enjoy the music for free from outside when bands play at the Pavillion in The Woodlands.
