Question concerning penalties that do not affect a play

I need someone to explain to me how a penalty that does not affect a play what so ever causes the reverse of an interception.

Example: Warner gets dust brushed off of his helmet after throwing an interception. The roughing the passer penalty happened after he released the ball. How in all that is holy can this result in a reversal of the interception? Yes penalize us yards but to ignore the result of the play???

Even on a kick off or punt the yards are accessed after the play. But the play is not "done over".

Even if Warner was blown up by a land mine he still threw an interception that was not caused by any illegal activity.

I think (not sure) the rule is possession switches once the ball is punted or kicked. So they can just tact on negative yardage for the offense, but on a turnover, the possession doesn't switch until the defense gains control of the ball. So a roughing the passer that happens after the throw but before the pick, still technically happened during the offenses possession.
I think extra points are special. Remember back in the day, a team could take the yardage on the PAT and go for 2 instead. Now, made extra points don't come off the board.

I guess the officials determined:
The "roughing the passer" penalty happened after he released the ball but before the ball was intercepted.

That is one hell of a quick set of eyes. The ball is in the air for what 3/4 of a second 30 yards away?

Another take. I think (not sure) that running into kicker applies regardless of where the ball is or who then has possession. I think the play comes back together with a game changing penalty. So maybe ... STILL HELP!
