Jim Haslett

Say what you want about his "head coaching" abilities, but his defense is looking pretty damn good so far tonite. Held the Cowboys to zero points in the first half.

Is it the defense that's good or is the offense bad?

strato 09-12-2010 08:55 PM

His years in Pittsburgh, the defenses were always top ten, if my memory serves me correctly.

Yeah I think that is why we hired him

It's amazing how many great coordinators have failed miserably as head coaches. Dick Lebou was one too. Coached the Bungals for a few very miserable years. Mike Martz. The guy who recently coached the Lions to a winless season.... can't remember his name.

Yeah he kept us from scoring enough points to win games that we needed to win a Superbowl . . . LMBO!

My first thought was that it was a bad move for Shanahan. But the defense was pretty good last night.

The Saints have had worse coaches in their history. After everything went his way in his first season, he thought his coaching decisions and personel moves were bulletproof. He was wrong. His downfall began with starting an injured Brooks over Delhomme. Start Delhomme. Make the playoffs. Who knows how far they go? Regardless, it's a good season. Maybe they land a key free agent or two in the offseason. The lockerroom doesn't get divided. A different place in the draft may land a better player or two. There's a fine line between success and failure. It took Payton two years of average records to understand he needed Williams for the defense.

Looking at Hazachit on the sidelines... I felt sorry for Washington.
