st thomas 12-12-2010 06:51 PM

it rubs right off the old coach. it is un forgiving, what if that gunner ends his carreer right there. its just disspicable if i spelled it right.

**** the jetz..How's Dat for sportsmanship!!

niteadept 12-12-2010 07:11 PM

Sooo glad they lost. Overrated and obvious dirty tactics to keep them winning. What goes around, comes around.

pherein 12-12-2010 07:29 PM

For those wondering the player he "tripped" was Dolphins corner Nolan Carrol. Carrol was actually injured on the play as a direct result of this

alleycat_126 12-12-2010 07:32 PM

OveratedT JETS. Big fine coming. He was a gunner BTW fella, you gonna get a good fine for sticking your knee out, he didn't even have the ball.

Dirty players. What a bunch of no class a-holes.

Glad they lost. Not only because they suck, but my SIL is a Dolphins fan!

Jets strength coach Sal Alosi identified in tripping of Nolan Carroll | ProFootballTalk

"The Jets, however, are so far refusing to hold Alosi accountable. Greg Bishop of the New York Times reports that the team is pretending it didn’t happen. And Bart Hubbuch of the New York Post reports that security ushered Alosi away before reporters could ask him why he tripped Carroll."

|Mitch| 12-12-2010 08:11 PM

I wonder if they will hold him accountable when the NFL sends that fine/suspension their way...

OldMaid 12-12-2010 08:59 PM

Agressive play,fine.Itis football.

Dirty play is wrong and I think a player should file a lawsuit against the other who clearly played dirty.Making a
career injury and or making someone disabled in not what football is about.

for some reason your post made me do two things:

think "man, spk has a sick sense of humor"... and also start laughing myself.

so I guess I should rep you.

D_it_up 12-12-2010 10:56 PM

Another reason for me to despise the Jets. I hope this guy gets fired.

I agree with Old Maid. Dirty play is wrong, and this guy (he's a strenghth coach) has apparently O.D.'d on his own steriods. What an idiot. He'll go from being an obscure NFL assistant, to a much more obscure college or high school assistant, with the swift help of that one stupid move.

Better book yourself a spot on Letterman this week before your 15 minutes is up, a******.

If Rex Ryan has a speck of sense, he'll ditch this guy and wash his hands immediately.

Srgt. Hulka 12-13-2010 11:24 AM

I don't know Mike, I'm not even sure a high school would hire a sleazebag like that. I'm surprised he made it out of the stadium without getting the **** beat out of him.

Could not have said it any better....

neugey 12-13-2010 03:21 PM

There were 5 other Jets guys standing just as close to the field as Alosi was - as close as they could be without getting into the white area. Almost like the Jets coaches/staff were trying to make this happen or standing that close because someone told them to.

This is one beef I have always had with football and basketball in general - spectators such as coaches, bench players and cheerleaders are really too close to the field of play. Especially in football where you have players in full padding and helmets running into un-armored people. We remember the incident with the chain guy the other week. And basketball might actually be more dangerous with some of the spectators sitting that close in chairs or even on the floor. Sports such as hockey and tennis are safer, with spectators out of harms way.

If NFL is concerned with overall safety more than $$$, they should at least double the width of that white out-of-bounds boundary. Because as fishy as the Jets' actions were, it was legal and they were not in the field of play or in the restricted white area.

I don't understand this rampant egotism having cameramen, cheerleaders, fans, bench players, coaches all so close to the action. Except for perhaps basketball coaches, there is no reason that any spectators need to be that close. Make these sports safer before someone - player or spectator - gets killed. Especially in these days of luxurious box suites and larger and extravagant venues ... shouldn't there be ample space to protect the players and spectators?!

Sorry for the rant, but I feel like the Jets are taking a huge and unfair rap for a problem that is inherent, with or without Alosi's or the Jets' intent. This wasn't exactly a Nancy Kerrigan incident.

skymike 12-13-2010 03:32 PM

no way, Noog. This was a clear case of right vs. wrong.

If being up close to football scares you, you should have had my childhood. Rodeo. Oh yeah. I was 8, maybe 9 sitting behind the bucking chutes, and there would be a 800 lb angry bull going nuts, while the cowboys were putting the straps around them. Im about
3 feet away from the bull, sitting on a rail. And you know, sometimes the bull just decides he wants to try to jump over the railing. Did I mention
I was chewing tobacco? 9 yrs old. Not one person said, "Hey kid, this is a bad place for you to sit."

You know? I miss the old days. This is why I have such a problem with safety gadgets and safety rules now.

Viva Arena Ball, where the players can run on top of you.

Srgt. Hulka 12-13-2010 04:00 PM

I'm with SkyMike on this Neuguy. All of the Jets coaches were standing legally on the sideline, including Alosi. This Alosi punk purposely put his knee out there with the intent of tripping or interfering with Nolan Carroll. Carroll ended up injured on the play. What if Alosi stuck his foot out there, instead of his knee. Would you feel different? What if a player of the apposing team tripped him? Would that be different? No. If Alosi accidentally tripped him while trying to get out of the way, you might have an argument, but this sorry scumbag took it upon himself to go out of his way to intentionally interfere with Carroll. I hope we never see this piece of **** on the sideline again.

I'm not saying Alosi shouldn't be punished. He should be punished because it's obvious he leaned forward to trip the guy. My point is 1) if there are other people with tendencies like Alosi out there, we should keep them further away from the field of play so BS like this doesn't happen and 2) if the NFL is trying to make the game more safe, then why aren't they trying to make the game more safe?

skymike 12-13-2010 04:36 PM

ohhh... i see... Im with you on that, Noog. There are too many people on the field. Who are all those people, and why do they all need to be on the field? But you gotta admit there are people who should be there. We should just take a little more care.

I will guard the Saintsations, and make sure nobody runs into them.

ScottF 12-13-2010 04:48 PM

There is dirty, and there is this. Sorry, can't align myself with the contingent that sees the humor in this.

You have one guy doing his job, and you have a coward who deliberately tries to hurt him. Fine the Jets $200 grand and let them discipline their own employee. And then pay Carroll's legal fees in his suit against Alosi.

OldMaid 12-13-2010 09:24 PM

NFL suspends Jets coach rest of season for tripping player - Shutdown Corner - NFL* - Yahoo! Sports

And rightly so. What was this guy thinking? It is all on film. Was it worth it to mess up an up and coming career? To hurt somebody?

I agree with Neugy,Skymike, that those team personnel and media members who need to be there on the sidelines, should be there.

Celebs, cheerleaders, etc.to go some where else.

Back to Alosi, the guy clearly put his knee out there.

ESPN showed this tonight on Co'mon Man.
I love that segment of the show.
They reporters of ESPN did not think it was funny either.

skymike 12-14-2010 06:35 AM

cheerleaders? uh uh... cheerleaders stay!

celebrities? GONE! outta here. dont let em in the booth either.

celebrities need to take their self-promoting self-whoring idiotic selves back over to E! theres no place for them in football. the only celebrities in football are the players.

go away celebrities. stick to screwing up the Super Bowl.

ScottF 12-14-2010 07:36 AM

I don't have a problem with anybody on the sideline (except the aforementioned celebs, including Harry Connick).
But the team needs to be responsible for everybody over there. I still think the Jets should have been fined as well

skymike 12-14-2010 07:40 AM

Harry Connick? damn. I didnt think about that. ok...

We're gonna make an exception for NEW ORLEANS NATIVE celebrities. sorry brangelina.

Right this way, Mr. Connick, you get a pass.

If Pete Fountain and Al Hirt were still alive, we'd let them in. They're part of the show.

HouYat 12-14-2010 07:48 AM

Umm, I think that Pete Fountain is still alive. ;)

skymike 12-14-2010 07:53 AM

Seriously? Oh, I am so sorry, Pete Fountain. I thought thats why they have that statue of him at that court. Oh wait, they have a statue of Chris Owens too, and she's still very much living. ok...

Pete Fountain- Alive.
How is he? Where does he hang out? I used to be a member of his WhoDat Fan Club, where you got the little white card, and a bunch of coupons, and we had a big party at the Hilton...

QBREES9 12-14-2010 09:46 AM

Dats how they roll in Jersey !!!! Dumb, Stupid. Thats why you can't have all those people on the sidelines of a game. Why is he there.

The NFL should clear the sidelines and just lets press people on the sidelines.

pretty sure his regular gig is in Biloxi.

I just remembered yesterday that Dennis Hopper was dead. When you said pete fountain too, it was like "REALLY? WHO ELSE?"

skymike 12-14-2010 03:54 PM

Dennis Hopper is dead!?

Good, I'll be watching to see if the Jets allow him back next year.
This guy used to be a coach on the Falcons with Jim Mora. Jim Mora even sympathized with him a little on the air during the coaches segment.

Why does it not surprise me that he use to coach on the failclown.
