CJ2K - Your feelings

What do you think of his holdout?

|Mitch| 08-11-2011 08:17 PM

stupid!

Isn't he having to pay the NFL 30k a day that he holds out? I think I heard that's a new rule this year...

ChrisXVI 08-11-2011 08:28 PM

Look.... we're talking about one of the most premier running backs of the modern era. Pay the man for god's sake. The Titan's front office doesn't really have a choice here anyway considering they have one of the most impotent offenses in the league with or without CJ. At least give yourselves a chance and secure the man for the long term.

Yes - it didn't start until Monday (I think) so he is donw 150,000 - hell I wish I made 150,000 :brood:

ChrisXVI 08-11-2011 08:46 PM

I don't think it'll matter too much to him when he gets that multi-year and multi-million dollar contract. It'll just be chump change when he becomes one of the highest paid RB's in the league.

jcp026 08-11-2011 09:13 PM

If I'm in his position, I tell the Titans "I get a new contract now or I'm gone after this season and you get nothing." Problem solved.

con·tract noun \ˈkän-ˌtrakt\
1 a : a binding agreement between two or more persons or parties; especially : one legally enforceable
b : a business arrangement for the supply of goods or services at a fixed price <make parts on contract> c : the act of marriage or an agreement to marry
2: a document describing the terms of a contract

3: the final bid to win a specified number of tricks in bridge

4: an order or arrangement for a hired assassin to kill someone <his enemies put out a contract on him>

play out your contract. Not just CJ but all players. If a player feels he is http://209.85.12.234/7361/20/emo/quote-1smiley.gif outplaying http://209.85.12.234/7361/20/emo/quote-1smiley.gif the current contract, don't agree to the contract. Simple.

Rookies don't have much of a choice on how much their contract is. If he had been a free agent, I'd completely agree with you. They're going to lose their best player because of this just to save some money this year.

Hold out the entire season. That way week 14 is a little bit easier for us.

Totally agree with what you're saying, but here's the problem; if a guy gets hurt, his play declines, they want a different system, they can cut a guy and do not have to fulfill the terms of their part of the http://209.85.12.234/7361/20/emo/quote-1smiley.gifcontract.http://209.85.12.234/7361/20/emo/quote-1smiley.gif

It has to work both ways...

In the NFL, make our a scheduled performance rate and the winning MVP on the Superbowl Champions is your richest guy that season...

...you'd truly get what you pay for...

Rugby Saint II 08-15-2011 03:41 PM

If he doesn't make it to camp they might go with option 4 and put out a contract on him.:brood:

GeauxForMore 08-15-2011 03:57 PM

Pay him. I mean I gurantee they won't make him the highest paid RB ever, if he tears his ACL this year.

alexonfyre 08-15-2011 09:20 PM

I don't care. It makes my fantasy draft easier.

crawgator 08-17-2011 12:28 PM

Don't really care about the CJ thing. Has nothing to do with the Saints.. Unless gets traded to someone within the division... But I do agree he should be paid...

GEAUX SAINTS!!!!

Nemesis 08-22-2011 11:50 AM

Id hold out knowing Im a top 3 RB playing for bench money. His career could be over on the next play, and the Titans have stated that theyre willing to make him the highest paid RB for a reason.

SAINTstunna 08-22-2011 09:47 PM

geaux saints!!!!!!!!

Saint_LB 08-23-2011 08:14 AM

Was he/Is he holding out?

papz 08-23-2011 01:27 PM

Yes and it appears it won't be resolved before the season starts. Bud Adams is adamant he will not negotiate a new deal with him until he reports to camp.

I don't have an issue with him trying to capitalize while he's still in the prime of his career. The only issue I have is the way he's dealing with it. They already said they were going to make him the highest paid RB in the league... once he shows up at camp. Just show up and the matter will get resolved sooner than later... all the senseless drama.

Memnoch_TP 08-24-2011 09:08 AM

Well, if he doesn't think he can take them at their word, he has to do what he has to do. It isn't like NFL coaches, GMs, and owners don't have a history of saying whatever they need to say to get what they want.

Mardigras9 08-24-2011 09:51 AM

He has certainly proven he is worth more money.

Go figure he shows up to camp yesterday and they hit the negotiating table right away. Both sides know how important they are to each other. If he weren't so stubborn, a lot of progress could have been made by now.

Because they own and run the franchise. I'm sure Johnson isn't the first person to feel cheated out of a proper paycheck. If he brings donuts to work maybe he can have a bigger influence in his workplace.
