The replay rule and the punt rule have totally made the game
a sleepshow. Bloody hell, what a joke. This is going to be
a looooong season. Not as long as for 9ers and Bengals
fans, but still, the NFL is now the exact polar opposite
of the AFL. Watching those ridiculous punts and replays
was about as exciting as watching MLB walk batters.

Nevertheless, at least on the replay rule, we may come
to love that rule. Nobody's going to be getting any
b.s. touchdowns on us. Hell, the Steelers wouldn't
even HAVE at least one of their Superbowls if that
rule had been in effect!!!

I wish they wouldn't have moved the kick-off to the 35!They really took out an exciting part of the game.

I think the replay rules will work out. They do it well in college ball. Once they get used to it, it will go more quickly. But if they are going to say all scoring plays are reviewed, then they should also review all turnover/change of possession plays as those are just as important as the actual scoring plays themselves. I'm not advocating a longer game, just pointing out the lack of reason there.

i think the kickoff rules will have an unintended outcome. the better kickers will start lobbing the ball higer and placing it about the 12 yard line with some hangtime. That will give speedier gunners the chance to get down there and disrupt the live ball. I think the more innovative special team units in the league will find a way to take advantage of this.

Speaking of ST...I thought that 60 yard kick by the Niners PK was pretty cool. Even in preseason.

It was until the replay took about 5 minutes. Well it just seemed like it did. I hate it, that's just part of the game "BREAKS" good or bad for your team. Hell this takes me out of the game, I mean I won't be cussing out the Zebras anymore. Now I can't stand around the water cooler on Mondays *****ing, now I will have to work more. The nfl is just screwing up so much in my life.... :)

Good point. But don't worry. They will still screw it up. My prediction is that the new rules about launching at a defenseless receiver will come more into play and extend drives for the favored NFL teams.

I heard some player (don't remeber who) commenting how it was silly that a defensive player can get fined for leading with his head, but a RB can lead with his head all he wants to and is praised ("That guy is a real hard nosed runner who just puts his head down and keeps going!!!!). we've all heard that. Anyway, with pass interference and the defensless receiver rules, the water cooler will still be active ;)
