Dolphins cut DB Sapp after giving up 99-yard TD

DAVIE, Fla. (AP) -- After getting beat on a 99-yard pass, Benny Sapp got bounced by the Miami Dolphins.

The veteran nickel back was cut Tuesday, according to a tweet by his agent, Andrew Simms. The move came less than 24 hours after Sapp gave up the longest play in New England Patriots history on a pass from Tom Brady to Wes Welker.

Brady threw for a team-record 517 yards and four scores Monday night to help New England win 38-24.

The departure of Sapp, an eighth-year pro, leaves Nolan Carroll and rookie Jimmy Wilson as the Dolphins' backup cornerbacks. Starters Vontae Davis and Sean Smith were also beaten repeatedly by the Patriots.

I don't know about ya'll but I think thats a little rough. Talk about being the scapegoat.

W.T. Sherman is my favorite General. After all he did order Atlanta to be burned to the ground.

Scape goat.

The seed has been planted for their future FA's and UDFA's. I'm signing elsewhere.

Well Megatron played a little D this week so I guess they'll blame Reggie for not going out there and stopping the pass.

EDIT: I guess I need to change my avatar (although it's still better than a clown face)

I don't agree. The best way to improve our secondary is to create som pressure on the QB.

I'd think about cutting somebody on our supposedly "much improved" special teams, after Cobb reeled off that NFL record-tying 108 yard kickoff return... which is way more embarrassing to the Saints than that one play was to the Dolphins....but honestly, I simply can't bear to watch that return again, to see who might have whiffed.
