Player fined for saluting military????

Not really.

On Veterans Day weekend, Decker penalized for saluting troops - Shutdown Corner - NFL*Blog - Yahoo! Sports

At first, I thought really NFL. Come on.
After reading this article and yes , I know rules are rules, I get why.
So ok, fine him.
Still, no biggie. It is not against him saluting the military, but the time, place.

BTW, I am promilitary. 100% to the 10th degree.

The real problem here is not that he saluted our military heros. The NFL doesn't mind paying tribute to the military. The problem is that he went to one knee.

"Denver Broncos wide receiver Eric Decker(notes) was assessed with an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty on Sunday after dropping to his knee and saluting in the end zone after a 56-yard touchdown reception from Tim Tebow(notes). The flag was thrown because Decker went to a knee, a celebration which has been illegal in the NFL since 2009."

It too much resembles a prayer. The NFL is afraid they are going to offend the 10% of this country that is non-Christian. Instead they are OK with offending the 90% that is Chistian. If Decker had stood on both feet, saluted, then spiked the ball, he would have been fine, not fined. Political correctness run amuck!

I do not agree with ya'll.
I don't understand the knee thing. I read it again. He saulkted the wrong, well, intentions were good. No biggie. Next time, he'll research how to salute first, LOL!!
I hear you Srgt. H. Knee or not knee, seems to me was the NFL likes their pr activities done their way as companies do.
At first when I read the title, I was ,come on. Get real. Are you kidding me NFL? Really? I mean , where to start. You have thugs in NFL uniforms playing but this guy, ooohh...somebody, lets put him out in front of the firing squad.

After reading, reading the article, oh, okay, I get.

NFL allows, like any company this and that, but their way.

Yes, your anut who raised you, is a mother to you has BC, however, you cannot wear a pink shirt and tear off your jersey and show your love and message for her and support to other BC survivors. Now, the NFL does things for BC Awareness month. Done. The NFL is doing things for the military this month.

Where does it end? Putting your high school alma mater's sticker on your helmet because your head coach died. Ok. the extreme.
The article is about that.

I also thought, ummm, NFL, what? Fining Pitts Steeler Polamalu , but he borrowed a phone from a trainer or doctor, someone to call his wife ASAP after he was knocked out there on the field for a while. He has a histroy of concussions and wanted to put his wife at ease as soon as possible.
Players are not to use cell phones during games.

BBills Nelson and giving the ball to his cheerleader girlfriend, which I thought was funny and cute and they are such a cute couple, still much to do about nothing case. Well, money collected by fines goes to charities, right?

Once again, I am 100% promilitary to the 10th degree.
I also do not like the NFL being easy on thugs and keeping them and hiring them for NFL foootball
