Leather helmets, no face masks, thats when men were men. Wonder what Goddell would get if he tried all this stuff on those men back then.

Wow, in a Canadian newspaper too ... here's a fun-fact for you ... the article mentions Fielding H. "Hurry Up" Yost of Michigan (University of Michigan) ... the football stadium at U of M is simply known as 'Michigan Stadium' while the hockey arena is 'Yost Arena' ... I guess that's what you'd call ironic.

It was less of a slugfest and more of just pure evil. The main goal before the rule changes was to hurt the other teams best player(s) and get them out of the game, not just rough em' up. Then, colleges would get big grown men who didn't even attend the school to suit up to wreak havoc. Something had to be done to clean it up for the masses The coaches didn't like the changes but I bet if the players were asked I seriously doubt any of them objected.

Did you get to see any of that HSBC Las Vegas 7's tournament this weekend? They had both the New Zealand/Samoa matches & the US/Argentina match on ESPN Sat/Sun ... it was fun to watch.
