Tatupu now a Falcon....

Falcons agreed to terms with free agent MLB Lofa Tatupu on an undisclosed contract.
It's likely an incentive-laden, one-year deal after Tatupu was unable to get on the field in 2011 coming off of twin knee surgeries. He worked out for the Saints and Titans before visiting the Falcons on Friday. His signing all but assures MLB Curtis Lofton will be allowed to walk in free agency. Released by the Seahawks on the eve of training camp last summer, Pro Football Focus rated Tatupu as one of the league's worst linebackers in 2010. He'll turn 30 in November.

Could be a decent pickup, IF his knees can handle it...

He was slow before his knee problems.

I'm glad the Falcons signed him mainly because now we won't.

Going to be fun watching him try to keep up with Mr. Sproles...:bng:

Could this mean that they won't try to re-sign Lofton?

Or that they've tried to do so, but have failed?

I'd like to see Lofton in the black and gold.

Lofton is the perfect fit for what this team needs. He is young, in every play, and a leader on the field. I can't believe the Falcon's are letting him walk...

He might've been asking for more than they were willing to pay outright or maybe he just doesn't fit into what Mike Nolan wants to do with their defense going forward.

He could still end up re-signing with them after he has tested the market to see what is out there.
