Bucs future success?

The Bucs were something like 60m under the cap. Now they're spending all kinds of money on top FA's. Am I missing something with the QB situation there? Isn't theirs kinda crappy?

Josh Freeman is their Franchise QB; and has been inconsistent. They spent a hell of a lot to protect him with Nicks and a great target for him in Vincent Jackson.

If they can get some of their defensive troubles fixed with the draft and free agency, they're gonna be a force to be reckoned with.

They should leap frog the Falcons into 2nd in the division...

Coaching and lockerroom togetherness is what they're lacking

I agree with Mitch. On paper their offense seems a bit intimidating with Blount, Freeman, Winslow, M. Williams, and now V. Jackson.

I think it will all come down to how well Schiano can keep all his players on task.

We will see what this buying/spending spree gets them.

Dream Team, lol

Seen how well big money and big names worked out for Philadelphia.. and Vick is hands down better than Freeman... I don't expect much from the Bucs with Freeman there.

They'll improve and I believe they'll be second behind us simply because Atlanta is losing Abraham and Lofton. Their D was already lacking, but that hurts them even more..

Don't ever let the Bucs fool you. They have a very decent team that just played horrible last year, especially down the stretch. Freeman is an outstanding QB who like many on the team simply had a bad year. He will bounce back for sure. This is one team that would not surprise me if they pulled off a worst to first deal.

Donīt like to, but I have to agree. It will be a marathon between the Saints, Tampons and Failclowns till the end of the regular season!

We simply canīt loose games like in St. Louis last year and expect to be the #1 seed.

The NFL - what have you done for me lately league?

I can remember prior to his down year, the media were all over Freeman's jockstrap. People were evening grouping him into the second tier of quarterbacks. My how things change fast.

Tampa sign my friend Dan Orlovsky. All that means is I could see the Saints play twice in person next year. If I have any money at all. Good for Dan. He's really a very nice guy.

saintfan 03-16-2012 12:15 PM

Florida once bought a World Series Championship with Free Agents. LOL

I figured Tampa to be much better last year then they proved to be. They lack unity and have no identity. They could be very good this year...or they could suck again. I have no freaking idea. :-)

Vincent Jackson's really not that great. I know, his size and speed make him seem so dangerous... But he was never an elite WR with a semi-elite QB like Rivers so who actually thinks Freeman and Jackson are going to light it up??? They have Nicks, but a LG never made a team badass.

PatMcIrish 03-17-2012 08:25 PM

Bucs will be improved, there's no question about it. I said two years ago they weren't as good as their record, well last year they aren't as bad as their record either. I still think they'll be a notch below both the Saints and Falcons but there's no doubt Bucs will be improved. If their defense plays (and guys like McCoy stay healthy) they might surprise a lot of people around the league. The NFC South, hands down will be the toughest division in football.

From a Saints perspective I don't like going up twice against any team that has had this many changes...for example it took a little while for Payton to really get Mike Smith's number in Atlanta, to where Payton could really ring their bell every year. I was much happier with Raheem Morris down there in Tampa, because that way you knew it could be a beatdown whenever Payton wanted or needed one....I also don't like the fact that nobody really knows this guy Schiano on the NFL level...most coaches have a track record or history you can look at for tendencies, it's not like you can really go back and look at film of Rutgers versus the Iowa State Cyclones in the "New Era Pinstripe Bowl" and figure out what he is doing to do with a real NFL team ....

ChrisXVI 03-21-2012 05:44 PM

Sign all the free-agents you want... Your coach wasn't even the best coach in the BIG EAST lol. They're not playing Syracuse anymore! The Bucs will still be terrible.

In Tampa there is optimism seasoned with some disbelief that the scumbag owners of Man. U. are dumping any coin at all on the Bucs. No one is whispering playoffs, or division titles.

The truth is, every head coach in the NFL had another job first and for lots of them it was in colleges. No one knows if this guy is another buffoon who will be over his head at the next level, or is this head coach a steal that other teams will wish they had plucked from the college ranks.

So the mood in Tampa is curious... not nearly so optimistic as yours, even with Commisar Roger not done with his Politburo-style crackdown on your team. We may not like you much in Tampa, but we hate him more, I'm not sure if there is anyone who likes the snake.

I couldn't say it any better than Xandtar just did.

I'm happy with the Schiano hiring. He is the polar opposite of Raheem (yeah, the guy who was yucking it up with Aaron Rodgers in the middle a friggin game).

Schiano has been endorsed by Belichick which impresses me.

Just happy we no longer have fan-boy coaching our team (and defense).
