Falcons, are they easier prey for us under Koetter than Mularkey?
 

hearing Vitts press conference yesterday, he talked about how it was hard to contain the Falcons offense at the start of a game due to those same tackling issues, according to Vitt he wasnt surprised about the tackling issues because apparently this happens under Mularkeys offense and the Saints never spent an entire week like they normally would vs the Falcons to prepare the defense vs Mularkey.

Basically what I think was poor play vs the Jaguars is probably nothing to be concerned about at all.

But breaking down Koetter and Mularkey, I told Falcon fans this and the dumb breed of fans they are wont believe it, but I believe Mularkey got what blood he could out of the turnip with the Atl offense and I am into the belief that Koetter might be worse than Mularkey was. I mean Blaine Gabbert under Mularkey just in this preseason looked alot better than he did last year vs the Saints, Koetter in JAX made that entire team very Anemic.

Thoughts?

There's a reason Mularkey is a head coach and Koetter isn't... and yes Mularkey is a better QB coach it seems

Poor tackling goes back to fundamentals, and let's face it, we have not tackled well for a couple of years. I think it goes back to who we are drafting; Porter was a decent corner but a poor tackler, and the jury is out our current CB's
And yes, it does seem like we always start slowly against Atl, but our offense usually comes back quickly, and often.

My 2 cents: If the Saints had tackled better, we wouldn't be having this thread. We won't really know how good Mularkey is until the regular season. Gabbert v Vanilla > Gabbert v Scheme.

As far as Koetter... If he is worse than Mularkey, Julio Jones will apparently balance that a bit. I hate that he's been this good, but he is. My question on Koetter is where is their run game? He doesn't have MJD anymore. And if the Falcunts are gonna try to start ball-slingin' like the Saints, Matty Schwartzenfaker is gonna melt down by the end of the season.

We are, and so far it's been working pretty well for us. Did you honestly expect us to keep leaning on an 30 year old back? We need to keep him fresh.

We're only going to run about 20 times each game at the most. The carries will be shared between Turner, JacQuizz Rodgers, and Jason Snelling when he gets back.

But the real question is when the Falcons get out of the preseason and into the regular season vs teams, will the passing offense under Matt Ryan work when they are behind and need to throw the ball and defenses anticipate it?

I we're about to find out in about 2 weeks if we end up behind against the Chiefs. He hasn't disapointed so far.

Everyone is saying the Falcons are SO much better this year. Why do they say this every year? Yea they have some scary elements on their team, but so do we. Falcons have new systems on Offense and Defense, I hope we get some good film on them before we play them.

One of the things I would be concerned about if I were a Falcon fan (thank goodness I am not)

Is the fact that maybe the Falcons offense in preseason is looking a little TOO good.

You look at the rest of the NFL elite/almost elite teams this preseason, none of them look great, quite frankly they rarely do until regular season.

I tend to believe what goes on in preseason is almost a 180 to what goes on in regular season.

We don't play them until week 10, if we don't have good film on them by then something's wrong...
