Bold playoff predictions

OK,

I know it is way too early to predict the playoffs, but I have done this twice before and was only off by one game. This is the calculation I made for the 2012 playoffs. Attached is the wins losses of each team in the NFC and the way I have it set up is as follows:

By the end of the regular season it might look like this

Minnesota 14-2
Atlanta 12-4
Sanfrancisco 10- 6
Phillidelphia 10 - 6
Chicago 11-5
Neworleans 11-5

Round 1:
Chi vs SF
NO vs Phi

Round 2:
SF vs Atl
NO vs Min

NFC Championship:
NO vs SF in Sanfrancisco

This would be an awsome game to go see especially if this prediction comes true and the Saints beat them in week 12. That would make them even up going into the NFC championship game with a chance for redemption by the Saints on the Niners home field. This would shut all of the niners fans mouths about any unfair advantages due to home field after a win in Neworleans. Bold prediction? Possibly, but crazier things have been know to happen. Be sure to visit this string each week and feel free comment with an updtaed playoff calculator. I have attached the calculator and all you will need to do is update the W's and L's each week to play along. My apologies for the format. The website wont accept excel sheets. Hope you like it. Please enjoy :-)

I don't think Philly makes it. I think somehow the Giants do it again. I think Green bay takes Minnesotas place. Other than that I like it.

I usually sit down and crunch one of these type of predictions out a little later, like around Halloween or in early November, when I get a slow day at work.

My only thing is, if I'm reading your thing right, I really don't see SF losing twice to the Rams like you do. I think San Francisco is easily good enough to get a bye and run the table, be "the team to beat" come playoff time.

We can only drop one more game. I'm not even considering the playoffs until they reach 500. That's 3 more W's with a denfense that barely hung in there last week and that's after 5 games.

I think a more realistic scenario would be Atlanta going on a slide. It's only a matter of time before Ryan reverts back to himself. They have some tough teams ahead. Also, Turner will be suspended this season by Roger for several games. Their slide is coming.

I have to agree with you on this one, but I feel like the Rams could be a sleeper team this year. They are currently ranked 14th overall and have won some pretty hard games against not so terrible teams. Washington, Seattle, and an undefeated Arizona team. Admitedly Sanfran has destroyed theirmopponents in the last two games they played, but I just don't see them finishing that strong. It doesn't matter anyway, because either way they will still win their division. I placed W's in each of the AFC games which could easily be L's. It all depends on any given Sunday. This was more to keep track of where the Saints needed to be in order to make the playoffs. I beleive they will make the 5th or sixt seed at best and will most likely if theymake it to the playoffs win all the way through. I know this s what every Saints fan is dreaming of, but it is still possible. Lets hope this past Sundays game is the beginning of their winning streak. If you look at each week they have consistantly gotten better. They may not be the top ranked defense, but they are still the 5th ranked offense, and if they get Kromer back to where he is supposed to be (offensive line coach) there is nothing but great things that could happen. I beleive Kromer was too preoccupied with the game to pay attention to what the O line was doing incorrectly. Now that Vitt will be returning I am almost willing to bet you the Saints get their run game back. Fingers crossed....WHO DAT!!!!

Bold playoff predicitions for NFC North indeed,. Hate to say it, but my preseason pick for the Lions was to be 8-8 at best and miss the playoffs, but I never imagined picking the Vikings to finish 14-2. Green Bay may very well be replaced as an NFC North contender this season.

Great spreadsheet, thanks for sharing!
