I was very high on Vince Young when he broke into the league. Not sure of all the exact issues, but very sad to see him where he is at today, broke and out of the NFL. Maturity has always been an issue, which is very evident when you hear of a guy blowing 30 million bucks, especially the way he did it.

4 million at .01% interest (simple savings account!) would have been 40K a year the rest of his life. This is not keeping up with the cost of inflation but couple that with a meager job, that's 50-80k a year. If he takes another 300-500K and buys a home, he could have still eaten at the Cheesecake Factory once a day no problem. Really sad nobody took him under their wing and showed him how to use a calculator.

Background only has so much to do with squandering fortunes. Ill bet 50% of NFL players are broke within 10 years of their playing days, due to various reasons. People are always quick to show what they would've done with the money, because they've never been in that situation. I've personally witnessed "better" than Young go broke. Trust me
