Jared Allen: If I were commissioner I’d undo everything Goodell did
 

Drew Brees says NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has “little to no credibility” with players. Vikings defensive end Jared Allen seems to agree with that.

Asked by Jim Rome on Showtime what he’d do if he became NFL commissioner, Allen said his goal would be to do everything he could to reverse the changes to the game that Goodell has supported.

“I’d probably undo everything Roger Goodell’s done,” Allen said. “I’d get football back to its rawest, simplest form, and just take all these, you know, horse-collar tackles, and so-called illegal hits, out. Get football back to its rawest form.”

Goodell has always insisted that his efforts are all about making the game safer for the players. Allen is one of many, many players who have told Goodell they liked the game better before Goodell started trying to make them safer.

He wasn't even selected outright. He won the freakin runoff which goes to show just how insane the NFL has become. I understand it's a huge position but come on. BP makes them look like a snowball stand.

Jared Allen may have a few screws loose but he is a good guy, a heck of a talent and he knows what's right.

Good ol' #69...

His opinion is very understandable, since defensive lineman are arguably the ones who've been most negatively affected by all these rule changes.

All the protection the QBs now have, have made defensive linemen's life much harder within the game and have caused them losses in their income by the way of fines and even suspensions.

Still, I'd vote for Allen to replace Goodell any day, even though I wish he'd play a few more years still before making that career change. ;-)

I gotta' think any defensive player is going to have this opinion, Allen's just the kind of guy who's going to voice it.

What's telling to me is when Drew Brees, a player rep, a QB, an offensive player comes out with these opinions.

They're all obviously reading Black & Gold, eh? :mrgreen:.
