Obama not sure he'd allow a son to play football

Won't be long and professional football teams will be suiting up females, so one of his daughters will be able to play!

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Football's first fan isn't sure he'd let his son play the game, in light of the impact it takes on its players.

"I'm a big football fan, but I have to tell you, if I had a son, I'd have to think long and hard before I let him play football," President Barack Obama tells The New Republic.

"And I think that those of us who love the sport are going to have to wrestle with the fact that it will probably change gradually to try to reduce some of the violence," Obama said. "In some cases, that may make it a little bit less exciting, but it will be a whole lot better for the players, and those of us who are fans maybe won't have to examine our consciences quite as much."

I never question my conscience watching football or boxing.
Nobody is forced to enter the sport.
Give the players the choice

a) the sport stays the same.
We improve the helmets, teach proper technique and come down hard on dirty plays, you take the risk you get the money you do now.

b)We change the game so you don't get hurt, but there is less interest so no more multimillion dollar contracts.
You will earn well but the days of showing off your house on crips and your diamonds and sports car collections are gone. You may even have to work after you retire from have game.

We all know what the players will say

"Two receivers to the left, Garcon to the right. Manning in the shotgun, puts Collie in motion. Looks in his direction...it's picked off! It's picked off! It's Tracy Porter again! He's runnin' free! He's gonna go all the way!

Never have a problem witm my conscience but I am however for most measures to make the game safer, especially when it comes to head injuries. I would like more work be done on equipment before rule changes thou.

In the light of my own injuries I could only echo Obamas sentiment.

I bet he wouldn't allow his son to go into the military either.

I'd care more about his opinion on the matter if he actually had a son ... .

And I wouldn't care about his opinion even then.

True, you would think the POTUS has more important things to be considering & commenting on, eh? I do.

Hard to fault him for answering a question asked.
