Y! SPORTS

Re: Joe Flacco agrees !

Big mistake Ravens... he isn't worth being the highest paid QB in the league. Yes, yes, he won the Super Bowl... But does he really warrant more money than Payton Manning, Tom Brady, Drew Brees, etc? Absolutely not. Without Ed Reed and whatever inspiration Ray Lewis brought, that team is screwed.

Re: Joe Flacco agrees !

This makes as much sense as making Big ben the highest paid QB for winning a super bowl.
Joe Flacco as much as I like the guy didn't throw the team on his back and "will" them to win. He had lots of help.

Good for him but I think this was a big mistake on Raven part

Re: Joe Flacco agrees !

Absolutely ridiculous. By the time the Saints' next franchise QB comes around (if we're fortunate enough to get another) he'll want to be paid about 300 million. 120 million plus, for Flacco? The guy who can barely complete 60 percent of his passes in a league that basically GIVES you completions and hopes to avoid the huge plays?

The whole market value thing is BS, as it is. Now you don't even have to put up comparable numbers to the elite QB's. You just have to be a QB on a winning team, and you automatically get to be the highest paid player.

Somewhere Trent Dilfer is crying he was born 10 years too late. That 2001 Ravens teams would destroy last years team.

Whoops! Flacco is okay, but "the highest-paid QB in NFL history" and "Joe Flacco" should never be in the same sentence.

Or the same paragraph.

Or the same book.

Or the same LIBRARY!

Oh. My. Goodness. That is one of the most ridiculous overpayments I've ever seen.

... on a side note, they really need to stop using the "highest paid player in history" tag. Means nothing when the next guy always becomes the highest paid player in history at his position.

Are you suggesting when Romo signs his new deal he will be the 'highest paid ever'

Please please let it be so.

Re: Joe Flacco agrees !

I think it has become a thing where quarterbacks want the "highest paid QB in history" tag or "biggest deal ever," even if they know it's just for a few months. The ego part of it, including the agents, has gotten out of control.

I had a friend who worked in the concert business, and he told me one time, that one of the big hangups over the Rolling Stones NOT touring, was that every tour they had ever done had been record-breaking, financial and attendance wise, and their egos had gotten so big that now they didn't want to do a tour at all, unless it was RECORD BREAKING and bigger than everybody else's payday. It would be considered a step down for them to do a regular tour, something that wasn't monstrously bigger than every other band in history of music. This was apparently how Mick Jagger and their agents would think. So even when huge amounts of money are flying around, celebrities and people do think about these stupid things like lists and records and dumb stuff like that.

I still have no idea why Romo is hated so much.

Other than being a Cowboy, why the hate?

If he played for the Chiefs, would anyone still hate him?

Joe Flacco, the highest paid qb in history.

I would think I was drunk and imagining things, but I haven't had anything to drink today so what the hell?

Somehow, you just know he is going to suck eggs next season.

Probably not but the fine folks here in the metroplex seem to think that Romo is the modern day version of Danny White. From my perspective most of these Dallas teams over the last 10+years haven't had any balance and that makes it hard. Either they have issues with the o-line, lack of a running game or a defense that is decimated by injury but some how people around here revert back to Romo as the 'problem'.

Personally I think he has done a hellava job under HEAVY scrutiny but I think fans, critics and media guys forget HE WAS UNDRAFTED but he gets the heat like he was a #1 draft pick. I guess that comes with the package of wearing that star on your helmet & Jerry Jones trying to run many hats with the ball club.

T dislike any player not in a Saints uniform equally.

I don't hate Romo, TBH I think under the righ coach the guy would excell.
As far as Flacco... I'm glade the highest paid QB is off our back.

Re: Joe Flacco agrees !

"Flacco has started all 93 regular and postseason games the Ravens have played since 2008, passing for 17,633 yards with 102 touchdowns and 56 interceptions. The Ravens have won 56 games and made the postseason in all five seasons with Flacco at quarterback. While Flacco lacks a Pro Bowl on his NFL resume, he established himself as a top quarterback in the league during the 2012 playoffs, passing for 1,140 yards with 11 touchdowns and zero interceptions while leading the Ravens to wins over the Indianapolis Colts, Denver Broncos and New England Patriots to represent the AFC in Super Bowl XLVII."

Not particularly a Flacco fan, but where does this type of QB deserve to be on the pay scale? Agreed, he is not worth more than Brees, in my totally biased opinion, but he has been as good as the other "top paid QB's" over the last few years.

The Ravens will begin to dismantle piece by piece, it will be amazing to watch from the outside
