Buying a building anyway, ... it's like putting lipstick on a pig.

I am surprised to see a city agree to financing a new stadium in this economy, Atlanta must be doing well. They'll be hosting the SuperBowl in a few years ... I said, "hosting", not "playing in",.

Well that actually makes me a little jealous of Atlanta. I hope this isn't far in our future.

After the renovations to the dome it will be in use for a looong time and it should. It is in great shape and fully comparable to newer stadiums around the world. And in saying that, I have visited great stadiums in Sweden, Germany, USA and Japan.

Have to disagree. Although I like our Dome and the history there, and have been attending there for a long time, I would love a new Dome that seats more people and is most importantly, more easily accessible when driving in on game day.
We seat like 79,000 and have >40,000 people waiting on season tickets. Filling the seats wouldn't be an issue.

I haven't been to the Dome in a long time but IF we needed one I seriously doubt the hard headed bone heads in NO would allow it...
They'll rage on for years about History and ****...
It's a freaking building move on

They should name it "The Infirmary". Not for the pain they will be bringing, but for the amount of medical staff they will need to hire to perform the Heimlich Maneuver on the team every year when they choke.

This is exactly what it is. They saw all that hype the Saints got from the whole possibility of playing the Bowl in their home stadium, plus the economic boost, and now they want that too. They are like the perennial little brother to the Saints...Everything Atlanta does, is something the Saints already did a year or two previous. We come out with Duece, they come out with Turner. We get some media love off of Katrina, the city coming back and all, so they see that and invent this ridiculous "Rise Up" advertising campaign and try and BUY media storyline of overcoming adversity or make it look like the city supports their team or whatever. We come out with Brees, they come along a couple years later with Ryan and try and pass him off as "elite." It's ridiculous how many examples of this there are. We won a Super Bowl first, still waiting on them....

Yeah, I noticed that about Atlanta as a whole ... huge self-esteem issues,. Seems like they're consumed with trying to one-up or be like New Orleans in almost every way on every level ... like "little brothers",.

The thing about Super Dome though is its almost become a staple of the city, its like you got no New Orleans unless you got the Super Dome there.

Thats how important that place has become over the years. Most importantly though, theirs little in comparison to the dome world wide.

Now if say they built the current dome bigger or tore it down and rebuilt it much bigger with the same look, then thats all gravy.

It's really too bad they just don't play the SuperBowl there every year. Other than Miami, I can't think of a host city or facility that even compares.

Well their is Cowboys Stadium and the Rose Bowl.

Thats about as far as it goes IMO outside of Miami and the Super Dome.
