Jason La Canfora@JasonLaCanfora
The Bears are in talks with former Saints tackle Jermon Bushrod. Badly need to upgrade the offensive line |
Re: Bears interested in Bushrod
Josh Williams @jaywilly06
Chicago #Bears & New Orleans #Saints are still in the running for OT Jermon Bushrod |
Re: Bears interested in Bushrod
I hate how much we change up our offensive line. I think we did get lucky with Grubbs though. We have changed key players on the line every year since the Sb. Not good for continuity at a position where its imperitive. Maybe more so than ever now that Chase is gone.

Re: Bears interested in Bushrod
I remember the same doomsday scenarios when Jamaal Brown signed with the Redskins.
OMG! Bushrod isn't proven! Drew will die!!!!!!!! In Loomis I Trust! |
Re: Bears interested in Bushrod
NFL Network says Bears are "nearing" deal with Bushrod.
|
Re: Bears interested in Bushrod
Its official. What do we do now?

Bushrod is now a Bear
per Adam Schefter

Re: Bushrod a Bear
Time to man up Charles Brown
|
Cry like little biches and watch the sky fall.....
Or man-up and take a championship. You decide. What is all the panic..... Bushrod looked like crap in preseason and all the way through week 16 last year. Constantly getting beat. |
Re: Bushrod is now a Bear
Just need to draft a LT with our 2nd rounder.
Oh, wait... |
Re: Bears interested in Bushrod
Well Brees needs protection thats for one.
|
Re: Bushrod is now a Bear
So be it.
Cue Hagan714 in 3,2,1..... |
Re: Bushrod is now a Bear
all money AINT good money . . . go to hell BUSHROD . . :needle:
|
Re: Bushrod is now a Bear
Well I'm happy for him, because he obviously got the money he was looking for from the Bears, and he gets to reunite with Kromer who has been able to get the most out of him - best situation for Bushrod.
I'm also happy that the Saints didn't overpay him for his services, because at the end of the day he is just an above average LT, and no franchise should brake the bank on such a player. |
Re: Bushrod is now a Bear
Ugh........No way we go into next season with CB as our LT. Been a long time since we went into a season with a hole there.
If we don't pick some one up we could wind up with Zach Strief as our starting LT. |
Re: Bushrod is now a Bear
Definitely happy for him - and happy we didn't over pay. Best of luck Bushrod!

He already has that with the best guard tandem in the league. |

someone more reliable than Bushrod |
Re: Bushrod is now a Bear
alright now it gets really interesting
Maybe now is the time for Charles Brown to step up? that does not give me the warm fuzzes. marginal guy from outside? possible but better get a blocking TE to line up over there to help out. pass protection blocking is to the left. to the left drew rolls right |
Re: Bushrod is now a Bear
Jake Long?

More likely a rookie from the draft - much more economical. |
Re: Bushrod is now a Bear
****. Now this is breaking news.
|
Re: Bushrod is now a Bear
well lets see the cap numbers and whatever Mickey does with it. does he have more wabbits in that there hat of his?
Bushrod was good but not great. a lot of his success was due to drew as cutler is about to find out |
Re: Bushrod is now a Bear
Bears agreed to terms on a five-year contract with LT Jermon Bushrod, formerly of the Saints.
The Bears were on a mission to upgrade Jay Cutler's protection, and they've done so slightly. Although Bushrod is regarded as a top-tier left tackle because he's kept Drew Brees upright, he actually graded out similarly to J'Marcus Webb last season. Cutler doesn't get the ball out nearly as quickly as Brees. Still, the Bears certainly know what they're getting as offensive line coach Aaron Kromer worked with Bushrod in New Orleans. At the very least, they've added depth to a thin unit. Webb may kick to right tackle, with Gabe Carimi at guard. Source: Ian Rapoport on Twitter |
Bushrod's deal with the Bears....
Brad Biggs@BradBiggs
#Bears give Jermon Bushrod $35.965 million over five years with $17.715 guaranteed. Yikes! |
We do not need three Bushrod threads in the top 5 posts

Re: Bushrod is now a Bear
Actually, I'm glad. Now we can get one of the top three OT's in the draft and sign him to a long term rookie contract. There is good depth there.
|
Re: Bushrod is now a Bear
Well $7M/yr was about the ceiling a team should pay for Bushrod's services, so I wouldn't automatically call that an overpay as the future will determine that.
Still, I'm glad the Saints aren't the ones paying him the $7M/yr. |
Re: Bushrod is now a Bear
What did they mean on twitter that Baker was writing a thank you note to Bushrod? Didn't the falcons cut Baker?
|
Re: Bushrod is now a Bear

Setting the market value for above average LTs as high as he did?! Bushrod's deal has a direct correlation to the deal Baker will sign with a new team. |
Re: Bushrod is now a Bear
Yeah Baker is a FA as well. He's no better than Bushrod though he'd be an okay stop gap if we don't get a guy in the first round.
