Re: New Orleans Saints Better Off Not Signing Nnamdi Asomugha

I believe we're a playoff team regardless. The coordinator didn't fit the personnel and our head coach was missing. Nnamdi or not, we're fine. However, he does make us better. There isn't a corner in this draft that could come in and do better then Nnamdi could right now.

Re: New Orleans Saints Better Off Not Signing Nnamdi Asomugha

I usually agree with the stuff you post, but this construction of the free agency market is completely off-base. The Eagles are a mess right now, and they have entirely mismanaged their personnel, particularly on defense, it is no wonder they let Asomugha go and that he would want to. Furthermore, the Saints are not going to use an early round pick this year on a CB, or even a safety, the safe money is on D-Line or Linebacker. This isn't because they don't want to, but there simply isn't any talent worth taking at our position. Signing Asomugha to a one-year or two-year conditional tender would be a good way to shore up our secondary until we can find a more long term solution, and if you think any DC wouldn't be happy to have a veteran leader like Nnamdi you are crazy, especially Rob, who built his career with him. Lastly, adopting your position would force me to assume that Mickey Loomis has offered a cap crippling amount to land him, and it would be completely out of character for him to make such a risky move so rashly.

So...sorry, but with all due respect, I completely disagree with this argument.

Harper's not a bad tackler. He's been #1 or 2 in tackles on the team every year since his rookie season. His total tackle attempts/missed tackles percentage isn't bad either.

The idea of Harper playing LB has been discussed on this board several times. I tend to agree with you that he's too light and would have a hard time shedding blockers.

I've read that Rob Ryan likes to run variations on the 46 defense, like GW used to do. If he plans on doing that here Harper could excel in the SS position. Otherwise, if RR is counting on a lot of coverage out of his safeties then I agree that the Saints should explore what they might be able to get for him. I don't know if anybody would be willing to pick up his salary though.

How much is Asomugha's "hefty asking price"?

First, your right.... Im sorry. 2nd IMO his bills time is irrelavant, did it give us any W's?

3rd Can you blame me? Sports hernia, concussion, shoulder, knee, bruised ego, s**t I've lost track. I understand that every NFL player is gonna be injured, then there are some players that are injury prone!!! Jabari IMO is the latter. I never said dude couldn't play, I think Jabari supporters confuse the two..... Even if we hard an elite pass rush. He's not a number one corner!!!! You know as well as I do his best days were at the two, and in the slot.

The only asset Roman Harper has is blitzing from the SS position he can't go up against a
TE much less a Tackle! So linebacker never but trade bait yes because Harper's skills are needed in a 4-3 where an extra Blitzer is needed because 4-3 usually doesn't have OLB like 3-4 has who are usually passrushing specialist unlike Sam and Will linebacker's who are olb in a 4-3 where they are assigned responsibilities to account for!
There is a little posting ettique that needs to be adhered to here.............

#2-Bold caps mean that you are yelling

merge the 3 into a genetcally enhance rookie. Change defence into a 4-7-1
, and have the mighty Rnamdi Jabar cover all pass catchers.
