Re: Nnamdi visiting Saints on Sunday

Sorry guys. Can't get excited about this unless he comes for peanuts. I've watched this guy play for two years in the Philly area and I'm not impressed. Essentially he doesn't: a) tackle and b) cover very well on man coverage.

Even on a "bad D" his numbers should reflect pass defense at a minimum and they don't.

I, for one, believe he's more hype than substance and at 31, we can get a younger (and cheaper) option than Jason David 2.0 or P.Rob Sr....

Well said sir, I couldn't agree more, would rather take my chances with a younger person than a over hyped Nnamdi.

You have it the wrong way round, He is an excellent man coverage corner which is what he played every season in Oakland, Philly forced him into a zone coverage scheme and it didn't work
Kind of difficult for a guy thats played man coverage 90% of the time for 9 seasons to go to zone coverage every game for 2 years

Just look at what happened with our corners last year, Greer was a decent man corner and looked completely lost in Spags zone defense...

Asomugha could come very cheap if he is willing. Philly has to pay him $4 million this year either way, so he should not 'need' a monster contract. Sign him for one year with a ton of incentive bonuses and a give him the option for 2014.

Man I hope we land him. He and Ryan were together in Oakland. This could be huge!

Only if he comes cheap and doesn't affect the salary cap, go for it. We've done worse things like ( Jason David ) comes to mind.
Now cut Harper and convince Ed Reed he needs to come home, this would make my day.
In my mind the only other concerns is DT & LT.

This. Nnamdi is a big, physical man corner who tackles well. Speaking from personal experience, when you prefer man and have to play zone it takes the aggression out of you.

The key word "could", don't get to excited he may be exactly what he was last year and we have enough of that already. The only difference is that what we have now is younger than Nnamdi and probably cheaper.

no way he's any worse then Patrick Robinson.

Patric Robinson is younger and is in need of coaching and still playing on his rookie contract. How about we wait and see who's better, I already know who's younger.

No need to wait. Nnamdi has proven himself for years. I'm not giving Robinson the edge over a proven veteran. Younger isnt always better.

You're right he has proven himself over the past two years in Phili that's why they canned him.

Did any player in Philly look good over the last two years? I mean, when you make your Offensive Line coach your Defensive Coordinator there's going to be problems. I believe Nnamdi has every chance of redeeming himself and I'd rather it be with us than some other team.

I agree he has the right to redeem himself just not at the expense of younger players or having to pay to much.

Philly canned everybody. Nobody played good there over the past two years. It was a horrible work environment. A good coach plays his players to their strengths. Man coverage best suit him and Rodgers-Cromartie. They had them both playing zone. Then they traded their best zone defender, Asante Samuel. Its the situation. Not the player.

They didn't play zone constantly, he had the opportunity to play man as well and didn't do very well. So I guess as long as he plays man coverage he's ok but don't ask him to play zone because he's to stupid to know his responsibilities.

Sign Nnamdi and say good bye to Greer, what a shame.

Because we can't have Greer, Keenan Lewis and Nnamdi on the field at the same time LOL. Come on, it would be a great signing... It's Patrick Robinson that would be riding the pine and that isn't a bad thing.

Im not trying to be disrespectful, but have you ever played corner or safety? Zones can get ridiculously complicated, especially when you haven't had to deal with them in 9 years. I hated playing zone. I hated the checks and balances of it. It didn't allow me to play instinctive. You spend more time thinking then reacting. Its just not suited for everybody.

They will release Greer if they sign NA, for the cap room

We're 6.5 million under the salary cap and that could possibly increase if Harper restructures. That's tons of room to sign Nnamdi to a contract that has a low cap hit for the 2013 season. Keenan Lewis was a sought after free agent CB and his cap hit this season is only $1 million. Have faith dude, Greer ain't getting cut.

Yes, I played corner and then moved to safety. Lets just agree to disagree, I think his better days are behind him and not really ready to see Greer go. If they sign Nnamdi I think they will cut Greer for the money, considering they signed Lewis

Still need a left tackle and have money to sign draft picks, and some in reserve just in case of injury. 6.5 is not a lot considering their needs, I would like to see Bigby come in and dump Harper

Joker, if the team is chasing CB's and OLB's I tend to think they fell comfortable (at least for the moment) with what they have at LT.

I'd love to see NA reunited with Ryan. Pass on Ed Reed.

Haven't we had this conversation already, tell me who will play LT and I will let it go and apologize but from my vantage point I see no one on the roster that can keep the 100 million dollar QB safe. Please don't give me the QB can makeup for the LT lack of ability.

We don't need an elite LT... Bushrod was terrible and Drew still continued to become one of the greatest QB's in NFL history. We invest in the interior of our O-Line, not Tackles. As long as we have our elite Guards and Center we'll be fine. Sign Nnamdi already and improve our worst defense in the history of the NFL!

Go back and look at the 49ers game last year. Never liked Bushrod but he was ok, better than what's on the roster right now.

Bushrod is terrible dude. He's no great loss. We'll plug someone in and they'll be every bit as servicable as Bushrod. I don't understand people thinking that Bushrod leaving us is going to be some kind of devestating loss.

I hope you're right, but if that was the case why didn't they give that person a shot at playing left tackle. Who is there to plug in, just curious?
