Oh come on burna. No way you can really say he comes from "the hoods of New Orleans." His adopted mom and dad are totally a classic, black middle class New Orleans family, from out by the lake, they are Pontchartrain Park-type, hard working, Christian, SOLID MIDDLE CLASS, want-to-better-their-life type New Orleans people. It's a flat-out insult to imply that there is anything hood-y about his upbringing, his adopted family, his dad or the neighborhood he grew up in. And St. Aug is NOT a rough school or a thug school, by any stretch of New Orleans standards. It's a school for the kids of solid middle and upper class, working, professional, African American people, it's a private school, there's nothing really inner city or rough about it. One thing he was not, when he was growing up, is disadvantaged or poor. He just wasn't. That's what makes his crash and burn so frustrating, to a lot of people. |
