I think the kid is an amazing QB prospect.
Arm.
Accuracy.
Acumen.

We likely won't take him, but it made me wonder...
Sean Payton willl inevitably bring in a capable young QB.
Walsh had Young, Reid had Kolb...

Why sign a player to sit for the at least 3 years and waste the value in the rookie deal.We dont need to sign/draft this year or next.

And yet Luck,Wilson,RG3 have proved you dont need to sit for a few years prior to starting.We have millions locked up in a QB for at least three years and have little cap room to play with because of that,we are not in a position to draft a QB to sit with holes in the O-line and all over the defense.A LT,OLB,CB,ILB,S are far more valuable to us for the next few years.
Lets say you draft Smith he sits for three years then gets to start.He has two years on his deal and then if he does well you need to pay out a big contract to keep him.Sign somebody in two years and he sits for a year and has four years on his deal still.The saints are in a better cap room to get free agents.

If that was the only problem....

No amount of logic, however twisted or convoluted, with extra dollops of juicy rationalizations, can come to the conclusion that Geno Smith is an option.
