I'm surprised Goodell didn't say the Saint's name is offensive.

... that's where I'm at on the issue. You start issuing resolutions making a privately-owned organization change it's name, what else do you start mandating? I thought there was an indigenious tribe or two that was on record being Ok with that team being called "Redskins" anyway ... it's fricken' football, for crissake ... like they don't have anything better to vote on or be concerned with ... DC is a fricken' warzone, SE anyway, maybe dedicate a little time to helping out the local neighborhoods, city council?

By me, the government names buildings & roads after tribes of the Algonquian, ie Chippewa, Ojibwe, Miami, Ottawa, Huron, Wyandot, Sauk and they teach Native American history in the schools ... don't see the big deal with an NFL team.

The difference is that those you listed are actual names of tribes while Redskins is a derogatory term. I think its totaly fin to have the Florida State Seminoles, the tribe has given their blessing to the use of that name (and probably recieves a royalty?) but Redskins are a different thing.

The censored name is the N-word. As I understand Redskin and N-word is equally bad in they eyes of the people the word is used about.

Hate the PC movement, but I do like the name Redtails. I like that a lot.

If they would change it I think it would be a good choice. Similar to the old one and representing something to be proud of.
