Ray Lewis is a conspiracy theorist?

Making sense has never been the strength of Ray Lewis’ oration game, but now the retired Baltimore Ravens linebacker is careening past motivational nonsense and into the realm of the conspiracy theory.

Remember when the lights went out during Super Bowl XLVII? Lewis says that was no accident.

"I'm not gonna accuse nobody of nothing — because I don't know facts," Lewis says on an upcoming installment of NFL Films’ "America’s Game" series. "But you're a zillion-dollar company, and your lights go out? No. (Laughs) No way.

"Now listen, if you grew up like I grew up — and you grew up in a household like I grew up — then sometimes your lights might go out, because times get hard. I understand that. But you cannot tell me somebody wasn't sitting there and when they say, 'The Ravens (are) about to blow them out. Man, we better do something.' . . . That's a huge shift in any game, in all seriousness. And as you see how huge it was because it let them right back in the game."

As with all conspiracy theories, the attendant circumstances did seem to fall into a convenient narrative. At the time of the blackout, the Ravens were beating the San Francisco 49ers by 22 points. Somebody or something needed to stop the Ravens’ momentum or the big game was going to be a big dud. So then, boom, the lights go out and guess what? The 49ers got back in it. All the way back.

Baltimore won 34-31, and Lewis got his second Super Bowl ring. At this point, though, what he could really use is a Zapruder film.

Your team should have played better when the lights came back on, maybe then the 49ers wouldnt have been able to come back and make it a one score game

Fact: Entergy is the company that was responsible for power transmission to the Superdome; Ray, do your homework, ask your cousins in New Orleans East and they'll tell you what that joke is all about...

Fact: You were playing a team equal, maybe even better, in talent than yours and you and your team started tearing tape off and celebrating a little too early...

Fact: You will probably be the first former NFL player of such notoriety to qualify for a "crazy check" which I'm still amazed, ashamed exists and is issued...

Beyonce > Entergy

Entergy < competent

Superdome < world class facility (sorry to say, but it's true)

No conspiracy.

I told everyone in Wisconsin that the Saint Nation embarked on the great mind over matter experiment or operation "Go to Hell Goddell".

This was a collective effort sprinkled with GrisGris, prayer, chicken wings and beer at a set moment in time. We are Saints. How can anyone question the power of prayer?

The sign on the building may say, MB Superdome, however, since September 25, 2006 - we own this house, that dance belonged to US.

You don't mess with what you can't see or quantify.

Ray Lewis needs to recognize we were not punishing his team. In fact, I would guess that WE pulled for the Ravens. I was.

No conspiracy.

Lewis is suffering from spot light withdrawal. My guess is that we will see him
Next to Dion/Irvin soon..... All cut from the same cloth.

Forgiven? Aspire to be? You may aspire to be Ray Lewis, don't lump me in your bag of sh1t.

One is forgiven after they make amends. In his case, do time. Murder doesn't get "forgiven" like he forgot to take out the trash.

Not only does Ray not get a pass or forgiven for murder but he hangs on a second hook for flipping to stay out of jail and the man has fk-all for integrity.

There is some fundamental disconnection when you are willing to overlook murder to get a linebacker.

I also don't get the want for everyone else's toys around here. This isn't Piccadilly..... Ill take Sean Payton/Drew Brees/ Johnathan Vilma over Harbaugh/Lewis/Flacco any day, everyday, and twice in Sunday.

Furthermore Ray Lewis didn't play the way he did because he has heart, he was playing for penance and forgiveness because of what he did, Andy Tanner has more heart that Ray Lewis on any day.... Ray was playing off a debt... There is a huge difference.

Far from perfect, but I doubt we have any murderers.

You go roll with murderers if you want, its a free country. I prefer to not roll with them.

CNNSI.com - 2000 Bloody Monday - Does NFL star Ray Lewis' arrest for murder taint the game? - Friday March 03, 2000 02:02 PM

I said I wish he was a Saint. At no time did I indicate I forgave him, that is between him and his maker and those he trespassed against.

Also, in my agreement, I did not exclude Vilma, Payton and Brees from the roster.

I never met Ray, thus, I do not know his heart. I suspect, from experience, the quote is accurate in pin-pointing his motives and he is not genuine.

I would love to meet Tanner and I pray he follows in the footsteps of true leaders.

Considering thou shall not kill is lumped right in the 10 commandments right next to thou shall not lie and a couple other things, I don't really think anybody is at liberty to judge Ray Lewis. Verdict was not guilty. And even if he did do it, I suppose Ray Lewis isn't allowed to defend his self. He was just walking around the club like, "I'm gonna kill me somebody tonight," in a lot of people's eyes. Only because its Ray Lewis though. Maybe Drew would have better luck with public opinion.

He praises the Lord and spreads the Bible's message everytime you see him. I love Ray Lewis. Genuine or not, he does it. I'd trade every player we've ever had in Saints history outside of Drew Brees for Ray Lewis. He's 10 times better then anybody we've ever had play for our franchise.

1. I follow my own commandments. If you are going to liken taking someone's life to taking his lawnmower your values are severely skewed.

2. Once again you speak misinformed. Ray Lewis was never found not-guilty, Ray Lewis negotiated down to obstruction of justice in exchange for testimony against Oakley and Sweeting. If Ray Lewis were defending him self then that's all he would need to prove and walk away acquitted.

Oakley and Sweeting we're acquitted, the person that did it never stood trial.

~ Ray Fkn Lewis.

3. I am not willing to ignore the death he spread then because he spreads the bible today.

Father Gilbert Gauthier spread the word of The Lord in Vermillion Parish..... He also raped little boys I knew while he was there. Put him on your team also.

Stand for something or fall for anything.

I can only judge a man from what I'm shown. Ray Lewis hasn't shown me anything that I should dislike. And if you're a real Christian and are judging him from those viewpoints then there is no difference between stealing and murder. There is no scale of severity. The Bible states you ask for forgiveness and you will be forgiven. He doesn't have to ask Oak or Rez Burna for anything. So if you have your own rules I think you might have more problems at the gate then Ray Lewis will.

For all you know Drew Brees rapes a little boy before every game for good luck. You don't know any of these people personally. Maybe all the good things he does is to cover up something he's done or doing that he feels guilty about. Don't pick and choose who you want to be cynical about.

The difference between the preacher and Ray Lewis? You know what the preacher did. You don't know if Ray did anything. You're assuming.

Re: Ray Lewis is a conspiracy theorist?

I believe their was a reason the lights went out, and I believe it was done for a reason, now who did it is anyones guess.

Lets look at the facts:

- Ravens up by a bunch, Lights go out

- Lights have never gone out like that before, is it really a coincidence it went out during the SB at the time it did?

Same season Roger Goodell is spreading his bull**** around the NFL.......no it was deliberately done by someone, most likely not by who Ray Lewis thinks it was though.

You can forgive someone yet still not want to roll with them. We aren't judging him in the eyes of God.

If every murderer and rapist asked for your forgiveness, would you let them all out of prison? Would you let them live with you and your family? Would you let them take your kids to school?

My beef is I have a love/hate relationship with my hometown, N.O.
I don't want anyone to knock my city or Superdome or SAINTS!!! :-)
Yes, it was a pitiful thing for the light situation during SB, world wide coverage. Bad thing for N.O. I was really sad about that.
NY, well, NJ East Ruther had this happen. Alls cool.
I do not have any connection there.
Ray won.
Be happy. Shut up.
Why won't he?
There was no conspiracy or anything.
How would this have helped N.O. ?
It did not help to have this happen during a BS, a world wide event.
