Seahawks out to get unruly fans

In an effort to weed out unruly fans, the Seattle Seahawks say they will have undercover police officers wearing opposing team apparel beginning with Sunday night's highly anticipated matchup against the San Francisco 49ers.

The Seahawks announced the plan Wednesday, saying the goal is to ensure a safe environment for all fans, including those supporting the visiting team.

The Seahawks say gameday staff will intervene against unruly behavior, foul or abusive language and verbal and physical harassment of opposing team fans or stadium guests and staff members. Any fans asked to leave for violations of fan conduct will have to complete a four-hour online educational course at their own cost before they will be cleared to attend events at the stadium again.

"We have great fans," Seahawks president Peter McLoughlin said. "Our goal is to ensure a safe environment for all in attendance, including visiting team fans."

I would wear a 49ers jersey and go on about how "our team is pathetic" in front of 49er fans.

Good for SSeahawks organization.
Most fans are cool.
In every city , you a few people who just don't get it and make it bad for everybody. Those give a bad name for the good fans, the majority.

Good idea Seatle Seahawks team.

I've been to a few other stadiums. There's always a couple losers that act like asshats but for the most part, most fans are alright.

Oakland can be a scary place. And Candlestick is thuggish but I've been lucky enough to never have had any trouble.

They need to do it in Chicago too. That playoff game years ago was the only sports event I've been to when I was actually scared. Granted I was much younger than the other belligerent, older, drunk, people there. Haha.

Yeah, I think it's probably safe to say there's a certain amount of that stuff at all sporting events in all cities, but you haven't truly lived until you've attended an event in Chicago wearing an opponent's jersey, ie Blackhawks/RedWings ... never doing that again,.

Well I went to our Thursday night game against the Bears a couple years back. It was pretty ugly especially since we lost. I went with a lady friend and at halftime while I went to the bathroom and she was about to get us some beers a big ugly fella started harassing her (she was wearing a Deuce jersey). When I got out and saw what was happening I was kinda surprised. My friend is a 100lbs soaking wet, I was 6-4 300lbs at the time and that guy was bigger than me. Must have been a real brave dude picking on a girl that size. My initial reaction was to just bash his face in but being a foreigner that could get me in all sorts of trouble so I just very politely told him something along the line of to back the eff down or find some help to retrieve his teeth from the floor. People like him don't need to be at stadiums.
