The NFL has worked in 3 year periods

2002-2005
The eagles era, Brady era. Also panthers were pretty strong in this period making two NFCCGs in three seasons, making a sb.
2006-2008
The NFC East era, all four teams competing at high levels, the Romo era especially, also the Vince Young/titans era. The AFC got narrowed down as San Diego and Pittsburgh dominated their divisions.
2009-2011
The Rex Ryan era in the AFC, and the saints and packers era as they unseated the NFC East's dominant run. Also the era where Vick resurged slightly.
2012-?
The NFC West era. Manning's last seasons as a contender, the era where the saints are being kicked while down(and its true). The fake bengals era as well.

The current has one more season left but usually the last season sets the precursor to what is to come. The next era is sure to be Luck owning the AFC but may have trouble beating one team.....the chargers as this could be more of a colts problem. When Manning is done, San Diego should take back the west. And Brady will see his end as well. In the NFC its already being set up for a NFC East resurgence thanks to Nick Foles and the redskins will start being competitive again, and Romo's days as a cowboy are numbered as next season will mark his inability to win for his team. The next big defense to come I believe will be, wait for it, TAMPA BAY! Can we become part of this next era as it lends more towards offenses. SF and Seattle have to know OCs are studying for solutions on how to stop them just like they did the jets. SF and Seattle are trends that will get old and once that happens, they will decline. Oh, we have the next romo to look forward too:Johnny Manziel.
