NFL's "Independent" Investigations

Bottomline; it's not an independent investigation if you get to choose an investigator you have on retainer who has given you favorable results in the past. Glad someone finally explained to RG what an independent investigation means. This is the same move he pulled on the Saints and it will get the same results every time; NFL wins again.

"Later in the press conference, Nichols asked Goodell why the league tapped former FBI director Robert Mueller III to run an independent investigation into the league’s handling of the Ray Rice saga despite Mueller’s being a partner at a Washington, D.C., law firm that has done business in the past with the NFL".

RG's Response,

He told Nichols that as the longest-serving director of the FBI, his integrity in running the investigation could not be questioned.

She's not questioning Mueller's integrity! She's explaining how it is not an independent investigation since there is a crystal clear conflict of interest when a law firm is hired that is completely on your side of the table.
Mueller's integrity will be to remain loyal to the NFL just as he has always done. Again, another tactic he used on the Saints, bringing in someone with three letter agency creds to cover up the stink.

In order to get an independent investigation the law firm would have to have never been on the NFL's payroll and the investigator would have to have 0 ties to anyone in the NFL. Both are not the case.
